Question about Dell Inspiron 4100 Notebook

Loose hinges the screen on my dell inspiron 4100 opens and closes smoothly but has low resistance to motion. It will fall full open or closed unless I am careful to maintain it near vertical. Is there some way to tighten the hinges?

I met this problem almost all brands of laptops. Depending on how the hinges being built (return spring, embedded lock notch, etc.) Some are easy to adjust and some need more precise tightenings due to wear and tear of the lock notch. However you can buy hinges too at ebay just specify the brand and models as well as the LCD screen part no. replacement. Hope this gives you hint.

Best regards,

Dell Inspiron 1545 hinges

You will need to get them fixed or replaced before they cause further problems. Typically when the hinges are loose or damaged, opening and closing the lid will cause it to crack and detatch the securing points moulded into the plastic case.

There is a switch that controls the on/off of display when the lid is opened or closed. Sometimes it's located near the hinges. Perhaps it's been damaged, loose, dirty, etc. Unplug, remove battery, plug in, reboot.

My laptop doesn't produce any sounds not untili close it halfway if i have the screen open totally no sounds. how do i fix that??

Well, it "sounds" like your speaker wires are either crimping or loose at a connection, you will need to remove the screen assembly to inspect further. Go here!

My screen is flickering what could cause this?

This can be caused by the constant opening and closing motion of the laptop and the wires in the hinges can get loose from there connectors

RE: DELL Inspiron 1300 Hello, Would a 14" screen

NO! it will fit in the opening but it will not have anything holding it in. So while yes it technically will "fit" it wont work as the screen will fall out every time you close it!

the system is too new to get rid of it for the sake of a $20 hinge kit

Dell Inspiron 1300 - When I re-open the lid,Screen stays Black !

Your laptop either goes to hibernate or sleep mode when you close the lid. Then, when you open the lid up, the screen is still off because your pc already hanged/froze and could not wake up at all (usual problem in vista). Off course, hard shutdown would fix it. But actual fix is under power options on your control panel. Check your current scheme and edit it. There are options there that you can select to "do nothing when closing the lid"

Hope this helps

Dell Inspiron screen coming off at hinges

It's a common problem with Dell Inspiron 1501 / 6000 / 6400 models. So tighten all screws on the bottom, on the back (where power cable connects), then remove cover on top of the keyboard and tighten screws there, then remove screen bezel and tighten screws there - here is how:
then put everything back.
