I did some checking around for your camera. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/documentSubCategory?rule=28832&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=445611&lang=en You can check this website also. http://search.ebay.com/HP-Photosmart-M415-Digital-Camera_W0QQ_trksidZm37QQfromZR40 I would buy a new camera. It would cost more to get the camera fixed than what it's worth.

I had this problem with my camera after a year. Scratching the battery contact terminal inside the camera fixed it.

I have been searching for nearly six months for replacement parts for several point and shoot digital cameras with no luck at all. I think the factory updates them so often it is not cost effective to maintain parts for them.

SOURCE: hp photosmart R927. No power, no operation, no LCD, battery good.

Your problem may be due to corrosion on the battery contacts inside the camera which can prevent the full power of the batteries from flowing into the camera. Try this free fix before you do anything else: remove the batteries and wipe the camera contacts firmly with a dry cloth (heavy corrosion may require cleaning with a wire brush, steel wool, or sandpaper). Remove any residue that may have fallen into the battery compartment during cleaning, then wipe both ends of the batteries and place them back in the camera. This cleaning clears the problem about 90% of the time. If it doesn't work for you, the camera may have a problem that requires professional repair.

Can battery compartment be repaired when tabs are broken off which hold lid down?

possibly...if it is the body where the tabs are broken off the manufacturer (Olympus) might be able to replace the body shell. I'd check with them.

My camera won't turn on and the lens won't open and the little light in the corner (below the zoom button) will turn on but then beep and go off.

If the camera has recently been dropped you may have lens damage that is preventing it from powering up. If it hasn't been dropped your problem may be due to weak/worn out batteries or corrosion on the battery contacts inside the camera which can prevent the full power of the batteries from flowing into the camera. Try this free fix before you do anything else: remove the batteries and wipe the camera contacts firmly with a dry cloth (heavy corrosion may require cleaning with a wire brush, steel wool, or sandpaper). Remove any residue that may have fallen into the battery compartment during cleaning, then clean both ends of the batteries, place them back in the camera and give them a full charge (assuming that you are using rechargeable batteries). This cleaning clears the problem about 90% of the time. If it doesn't work for you, it may be time to replace the batteries, or the camera may have a problem that requires professional repair.

Camera lens stuck and wont go back in

If you've recently dropped the camera you've likely damaged the lens tube (housing) or jarred the zoom mechanism off of its track. Either condition will require professional repair. If the camera has not been dropped, your problem may be due to weak/worn out batteries or corrosion on the battery contacts inside the camera which can prevent the full power of the batteries from flowing into the camera. Try this free fix before you do anything else: remove the batteries and wipe the camera contacts firmly with a dry cloth (heavy corrosion may require cleaning with a wire brush, steel wool, or sandpaper). My digital camara no longer wants to work. The

The lens may have malfunctioned. It could be jammed, one of the plastic moving parts is broken, or the motor has malfunctioned.

You can try to open the r742 camera and swap out the lens with working set from another non-functioning r742 camera.

The camera will work with the charger cord plugged in, but you are limited to taking photos only near a power source. I have the same issue; broken battery door...Still looking for another hard broke 850 to take parts off of.
