You actually don't need drivers for dvd roms. I think you are looking for firmware upgrades?

unless you want new funtionality or your dvdrom is dead its unlikely you even need firmware. Make sure you install a fresh copy of xp home rather than an upgrade.
also xphome is known to have access problems wheere you will need to be admin to do anything productive.
To problem solve, start with the physical first then check the software, ie. make sure you have plugged all the cables between the cdrom and motherboard properly, check there's power to the drives then check the software.

Click on the plus signs (+)
next to the following folders

is the DVD/CD-ROM Drive Class Description in the registry. Look for any of the
following names in the right hand column.
Upper
Filters
Lower
Filters
Upper
Filters.bak
Lower
Filters.bak
If any of the above keys shown in step
4 are listed, right-click on them and choose Delete
After deleting the keys, close the registry editor
Reboot your computer
Open My Computer and check to see if your CD or DVD
drives have returned. You may also want to open Device Manager and verify that
the yellow exclamation and error code on the CD or DVD drive is gone. Hope this

Its helpful but cant get it flashed once im on a dos promptwhen i type the line it tells me to type it say it cnt be found or invalid.please hlpme,oh i forgot to mention that my dvd and cd writer plus where working fine with me but my computer crashed and i couldnt restore it so i put xp home asmy os.thank you iwill keep trying
