You actually don't need drivers for dvd roms. I think you are looking for firmware upgrades?

here's where you get all of these...

http://forum.rpc1.org/portal.php

Good luck.

unless you want new funtionality or your dvdrom is dead its unlikely you even need firmware. Make sure you install a fresh copy of xp home rather than an upgrade.

also xphome is known to have access problems wheere you will need to be admin to do anything productive.

To problem solve, start with the physical first then check the software, ie. make sure you have plugged all the cables between the cdrom and motherboard properly, check there's power to the drives then check the software.

    goodluck.

I need driver for Hitachi GD2000 2X ATAPI/E IDE DVD-ROM Drive to complete a win7 install

You're not going to get an install then. If that is NOT an OEM Install disc, you might have to try another drive to do the install with. Most ATAPI/IDE Drives are run by the BIOS.

I need a driver for a hitachi gh40f cd rom but i cant find it.

It does not appear that Hitachi is providing any support for their CD-ROM drives; you will have to make a choice to download your driver from one of the many available services. Some are free but may require you to download their driver scanner. You might consider these sources:

http://xpdrivers.com/cd-dvd-blueray/_1_6.cfm or

dvdram-gh40f-scsi-cdrom.fyxm.net/">http://hl-dt-st-dvdram-gh40f-scsi-cdrom.fyxm.net/

I bought a used hitachi dvd rom gd 7500 that did not come with a software. where can I find a driver?

You do not need a special driver. DVD drives have a standardized interface and will work with generic drivers that come with your operating system.

DVD Ram Disks

Sounds like it's just fried... Sorry... There is a universal driver for CD-rom(same with DVD-Rom drives) drives that windows uses.. so if it doesn't work it's not cause of the drivers(especially if you just reinstalled windows or it was just repaired since it reinstalls the drivers from the cd)
