Question about iRiver T10 MP3 Player

Downloading a new cd onto Gracenote

I have quite a few cds that do not show up on the Gracenote website. When i insert the cd, i get a note of whether i'd like to submit the cd now. I've tried answering yes, entering name, tracks, date, language on the Gracenote website and then i submit.
Nothing happens.
I was the advised to download Quintessence, which i did and downloaded the same cd which had no effect on Gracenote.
A day later it did appear on Quintessence but i have no idea how to add it to my IRiver playlist.
Please advise.

First, you have to download a cd player software of some sort, i.e. itunes, wmp, or realplayer.  Once it is downloaded on to the player, you can sync your iriver with the player and you will have fun music to listen to on your mp3 player:)

MP3 players can only play music files in mp3 file format.
You can download mp3 music files from the Internet to your computer and then copy them to your MP3 player using the USB cable.
For your CD collection, you need to convert your CDs to mp3 music files onto your computer or download them from the Internet and then copy them to your MP3 player after you have connected the USB cable to the MP3 player and the computer.
You can do this using Windows Media player and Rip the CDs - Media Player will create a MP3 music file for each music track.

Naming tracks on my new MP3 player

The software that comes with your player uses an online database from "Gracenote" (link below)to name the tracks. When you copy from a CD the software recognises the disk & looks up the database to find the track info, if you are not connected to the internet or your firewall software is blocking the request it will not be able to retrieve the track info & will just name the tracks "track 1" etc. You can rename the track yourself in the program by highlighting the track in the PC software and pressing the right mouse button & choose "property" this opens a window where you can edit the track title but not the file name. You can update the tracks you already have by connecting to the internet then highlight & right click as before but now choose "get track info", the software will connect & retrieve the track info and ask if you want to change it. There is a problem with language CD's as they will often not be in the database and you will need to name them yourself. There are many helpful programs available (some free) to rename the tracks (technically known as ID3 tags). Search on the web for "mp3 tag software". http://www.gracenote.com/music/

CAN I DOWNLOAD 50 MUSIC CDS ON TO ONE DISC

The only way is to compress the audio tracks on each CD into MP3 (compressed) music files and then burn the MP3 music files to a CD.
Whether you can fit all converted 50 CDs to MP3 onto a single CD depends upon how large the MP3 files are. A CD can only hold 640 Mb of data.

To download music to computer

Hi acdcrockwg,

In order to download music onto your computer (which you will need to do before transferring music from your computer to your player), you can purchase music online by individual track or album downloads (there are a number of online music services) or you can purchase a music subscription (such as Rhapsody) which allows you to play music as long as your subscription continues.

Another method of downloading music to your computer is by ripping CD's. For instructions on how to download and also transfer music to your player, visit www.philips.com/support and enter your specific model number in the search engine to arrive at the product page (which includes FAQ's, video tutorials, manuals, etc.). Model numbers typically begin with "SA."

Hope this helps. Let me know by rating this solution. Thanks!

You can also speak with a Consumer Care agent by calling 1-888-744-5477.

RIPPING CD INSTRUCTIONS:

When a CD is ripped, the audio files such as voice recording, music and audio book are copied into the memory of the computer.

Follow the steps below to rip a CD:
  1. Insert the CD into the CD drive of the computer.
  2. Launch Songbird in the computer.
  3. Once the CD is detected by the software, the audio files in the CD will be shown.
  4. Click the "Rip CD" on the right hand side and the ripping process will begin.

If the audio file is successfully ripped, there will be a tick sign on the beginning of the row showing the name.

Note:
Make sure you are authorized to rip the CD. Unauthorized duplication of any recordings whether downloaded from the Internet or made from audio CDs is a violation of copyright laws and international treaties.

The first thing that you should do is download itunes from the apple website at www.apple.com/itunes once installed open up itunes and then plug in the supplied usb cable2_bing.gif into the ipod and the other end into your computer. From itunes you can then go onto the apple store and buy music from the store or if you have music on CDsyou can use itunes to pull the CDs onto your computer and from itunes and clicking on the devices section you can transfer the music onto your ipod. For more information to help you use your ipod fully it is well worth downloading a pdf manual off the apple website at http://support.apple.com/manuals/#ipod

If you are concerned about security (and this is wise), then using your CDs would certainly be the safest. Depending on your player, you may have to convert the song files on your CD to MP3 files. To do this, you'll need a CD ripping program to copy the music files from your CD to your computer, and then convert them into MP3 files. There are many programs that do this, including the Windows Media Player you already have if you have a PC. After converting the files, downloading them onto your player will be fast and easy. You should have a cable to hook your player to your PC. Check your player instructions. When connected to your PC, it will as if you have an additional hard drive. You'll simply copy the files from your PC to this drive, unplug and off to the gym you go.
