the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

When i put a usb in my computer it hides the folders and files. But when i look at the usb properties it has the memory of the hidden files. When i tried it in other computers it already has virus.

Could you please explain what you are trying to do?
Are you trying to reveal the hidden files on a USB device or are you trying to remove a virus?

-Revealing hidden files and folders-
1. Open the drive you are wanting to view the hidden files and folders in.
2. Click Tools on your menu bar and select "Folder Options" (If you cannot see your menu bar, you may need to press "alt" on your keyboard.
3. A box will popup, select the "View" tab on top and look down the list of tickboxes, you should come across one that says "Show hidden files and folders", select it. Click apply and ok.
(To view system hidden files and folders, untick the option: "Hide protected operating system files", it is not recommended to have this unticked.)

If it's a virus, I suggest you run a scan on a up to date Virus scanner, once threats have been removed. I would also recommend formatting the drive (once you have backed up any neccessary data).

Hello CyberGuru

its not from microsoft explorer, you have to be inside folder then hit tools and folder options and show or hide files.
Windows XP

To enable the viewing of Hidden files follow these steps:

Close all programs so that you are at your desktop.

Double-click on the My Computer icon.

Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.

After the new window appears select the View tab.

Put a checkmark in the checkbox labeled Display the contents of system folders.

Under the Hidden files and folders section select the radio button labeled Show hidden files and folders.

Remove the checkmark from the checkbox labeled Hide file extensions for known file types.

Remove the checkmark from the checkbox labeled Hide protected operating system files.

Press the Apply button and then the OK button and shutdown My Computer.

Now your computer is configured to show all hidden files

if it doesnot work use spyware software to fix it.

I couldn't view the hidden files when i apply show hidden files in my folder options in tools menu in menu bar.

Folder Options is removed from Tools in Windows by a virus. The virus is called W32.Rontokbro@mm OR W32/Rontokbro.gen@MM

The removal of this virus is slightly difficult. Antivirus can't remove it automatically. However detailed procedure to remove it is available at

http://coolexp.blogspot.com/2008/01/fold...

About this Virus/Worm:
What it does is creating new files which looked like a folder but its actually a .exe file. Unless you’ve enabled the view extensions in the folder options or else you won’t see the .exe extension of the file. The file is approximately 43.7Kb and normally people will click to open it because it looked like a folder. So after you’ve open it, the virus will run each time during startup and keep on spreading and spreading… into the harddrives.

More troubles coming up. Normally when you click “Tools” in explorer, there’s a “folder options” underneath it. Once the pc is infected with the virus, the Folder Options will be missing, which disabled you to change the options to view the extension of the files. So when you see a new folder appeared from nowhere and you clicked to open it out of curiousity, the virus spread more again. Moreover, the virus disabled the registry edit where you will see this message “Registry edit is disabled by the administrator” everytime you try to edit the registry.

So how to clean the virus then? I found some solution from the following link and have successfully cleaned it from my system.

http://coolexp.blogspot.com/2008/01/fold...

It will help you to get rid of this virus named W32.Rontokbro@mm aka brontok.a and to get back your hidden files. Source(s): http://coolexp.blogspot.com/2008/01/fold...

Windows folder cannot be hidden

Hi its a virus.

Heres the fix for it.

Go to registry editor by running regedit in the run box.
Go to this key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\
Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced

In the right hand area, double click hidden and change the value to 1.

Now you’re all set to go. Check it in your tools menu if the changes have taken effect.

Hey there

Once you are infected of viruses then you wont be able to remove them compltely by doing some utilities.
You need to install some good Antivirus Program.

First of all check for what kind of viruses are affecting ur system by:

Because your virus leads to your system very slow as well as restarts itself without awaring you. It is caused by Worm and Trojon viruses. For making sure that ur system is suffering from virus go to tools in menu bar and check for folder. if the folder option appears to you then it is okay. again try to go to Task manager by right clicking on the tasl bar. If the task manager is also showing then you are not affected of viruses.

Try out QuickHeal Antivirus by downloading it from the following link:
http://www.quickheal.com

Download its trial version and then get it updated by connecting ur pc to the internet.
This antivirus program can remove all the viruses that are currently present in ur system.

gimme your acknowlege by rating me

thanx

Hello, I am experienceing difficulties with my PC. I can't access to any folders and cant open the start menu.

You might have a Virus. In the case of a Virus infection I would most likely disconnect the Hard drive from the machine, scan it on another machine ( using AVG7 + AVGAS = AVG Antivirus and AVG Anti Spyware Scan) remembering to turn off system restore while scanning on the drive.

If you have successfully found and removed the virus infection, remember to delete your system volume information and recycler folder on the drive. virus files tend to infect these folders.

When you plug in your HDD into your machine again, you might want to do a Windows repair; to fix the issues that the virus has caused OR use a registry repair tool to repair registry items. Another option would be to create a new user name. The settings in that new accound should be working fine and you should be able to access the start menu and your folders again.

Double click on " Removes the Folders options menu from the Tools menu " item (which the third option from the top). In the next screen click on "Enabled" and click on Apply (don't click on Ok). Again in the same screen click on "Disabled" and click on Apply and Ok. There you go you get back the Folder Options under the Tools menu.

may be you are only using the USER account so folder options are not available... there are full administrative right to use folder option so have a check with this...

in case you are administrator then also it s not available means this may be due to virus attack some system files have became unstable .... so try reinstalling operating system ...
