How do I change the format from 480i to 1080i?

The native resolution of the unit is 720P, so you wont get 1080i

I have a wd-52525 mitsubishi and it is supossed to be 720p but when I turn it on it says its 480i. What part of the tv makes it 720p or 1080p? Please help.......Thanks Paul

You will have to use component inputs for above 480i, and use the FORMAT key on your remote control unit (lower panel in center) to change to whatever you want for resolution. Be sure you have your signal input set to one of the Component inputs via Setup or Net Command (or use Devices on the remote)

There is no picture and it shuts down and then tries to restart

Your set is not receiving a valid signal for the resolution of the set and shuts down as a self-protective measure
so you have to make sure the source is sending what the set needs and then it will show a picture at the
acceptable resolution.

Do you know the range of resolutions allowed with your set?

My ws-65611 always stay in 480i even with HD signal.

If you are using the component connection, make sure you are connected to the one that will support 1080i. If that is not the problem, make sure that the HD receiver is outputting 1080i and not 720p. No RPCRT will support 720p and the video may be down-rezed to 480 since this is the case.

    Have a 32 " Viewsonic

If you go to Viewsonics web site they say the following about your Model TV in the specs:

    INPUT SIGNALS TV/Video Comp. 480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i

So it will indeed do 1080i

    High Def.

If you are using the component inputs it will select 1080i automatically IF that is what it is being sent. Make sure your device (cable/satellite receiver) is set to 1080i. The TV recognizes 480i, 480p(progressive scan DVD player) and 1080i. It DOES NOT recognize 720p. Since it has no HDMI or DVI input it can't do HD DVD or "upconvert" DVD but it does very nicely with 480p/progressive scan.

Sir, Pull up the on screen menu and make sure the unit is set to display 1080i or 720p instead of 480i. This may be the issue. Good Luck
