Question about Computers & Internet

Video card While downloading a game, it affected my video card somehow. On my "Display Properties" under "Setting" it used to reflect in the "Color Palatte" "true color" now it only shows "16 colors". It does not give any other options. I've tried looking at the other options on that window but same results. Help. -ren

Hello Ren. My guess is that your video card driver is messed up. Right click on My Computer (or Computer, if you have vista) and select "manage". Go to device manager and see if you anything listed with a question mark inside of a yellow triangle. If so, you're video card is not being recognized. Download the latest driver from your video card manufacturer's website and hopefully it will fix the problem. Lemme know if you have more problems.

I compete in 3d archery so I bought a new rangefinder 2 days ago and it reads 19.2 yards at exactly 20 yards is there a way to adjust it to read properly?

Page 5 of the manual states: RANGING ACCURACY The ranging accuracy of the Scoutâ„¢1000 is plus or minus one yard / meter under most circumstances. The maximum range of the instrument depends on the reflectivity of the target. The maximum distance for most objects is 650 yards / 594 meters while for highly reflective objects the maximum is 1000 yards / 914 meters. Note: You will get both longer and shorter maximum distances depending on the reflective properties of the particular target and the environmental conditions at the time the distance of an object is being measured. The color, surface finish, size and shape of the target all affect reflectivity and range. The brighter the color, the longer the range. White is highly reflective, for example, and allows longer ranges than the color black, which is the least reflective color. A shiny finish provides more range than a dull one. A small target is more difficult to range than a larger target. The angle to the target also has an effect. Shooting to a target at a 90 degree angle (where the target surface is perpendicular to the flight path of the emitted energy pulses) provides good range while a steep angle on the other hand, provides limited ranging. In addition, lighting conditions (e.g. the amount of sunlight) will affect the ranging capabilities of the unit. The less light (e.g. overcast skies) the farther the unit's maximum range will be. Conversely, very sunny days will decrease the unit's maximum range.

The difference you are experiencing (20-19.2=.8 yards) is within the device ranging accuracy of 1 yard, and is in fact an error of only 4%. That is pretty accurate

Good luck with your device.

My PC's color quality shows only lowest 4 bit

Sounds like you need to install a video driver. If you have a video card separate from the mother board, look up the card and download drivers for it. Alternatively, you may be able to use the Windows Update tool to autodetect the driver.

If the video card is on the motherboard, look up the motherboard's model number on the manufacturer's website as they should have drivers there.

Finally, look back at the disks you got with your computer, often there is a "drivers disk" which you can reload the driver with.

My monitor stays white it wont show any display

Hi,
black-icon.gif This icon indicates the BRIGHTNESS control, more properly called BLACK LEVEL. It adds or subtracts an offset, or bias, into the red, green, and blue signals. This control should be adjusted so that black picture content displays as true black on your monitor. Misadjustment of this control is the most common problem of poor quality picture reproduction on computer monitors, video monitors, and television sets. Later in this document, I will explain how to set this control properly. The setting is somewhat dependent upon ambient light. Modern display equipment is sufficiently stable that frequent adjustment is unnecessary.

picture-icon.gif This icon indicates the CONTRAST control, preferably called PICTURE. It applies a scale factor (gain) to the red, green, and blue signals. It affects the luminance (proportional to intensity) that is reproduced for a full white input signal. Once BRIGHTNESS is set correctly, CONTRAST should be set for comfortable viewing brightness.

The gamma can be controlled through Video Card utility which can usually be accessed by going to display properties.

Depending on your video card software you may be able to right click your desktop, select properties, select settings tab and then choose advanced, towards the bottom. In there you may find a tab called Monitor and under that tab you may or may not (depending on your video card software) be able to adjust your color correction settings(gamma & brightness & contrast).

. Right click on the desktop and then select Properties

2. Click on the Settings tab and then click on the Advanced button.

3. Click on the Color Correction tab and you will see settings for Brightness, Contrast, and Gamma

While playing game , game is jumpy , to jumpy to even shoot someone , how do I fix this ?

It's hard to answer this without knowing what game you're playing but if I get the information off the net right your computer is incapable of running any of the new games. It's slow, not much ram and poor video capabilities. A lot of the new games require 2 gigs of ram, a 750 meg video card and at least 2.4 megahertz of power to run excellent. What I see of that motherboard you posted under it's only capable of 1.2 megahertz and probably very little ram and an ancient PCI style video card which is about 8 years back in technology.

Nvidia geforce 9400gt 1gb card problem

The maximum performance of your video card is limited by the hardware you attach it to. In the display properties of Windows, your highest resolution is 1280x1024 because your monitor is not able to go any higher than this. This resolution is a typical maximum for a 17" monitor. Some 15" can do this, and some 19" can do this. In order to get a higher resolution, you'll need to get a bigger monitor with a higher native resolution. For example, a nice 24" monitor can only do 1920x1200. The video card can go higher, but it's limited by the monitor. 32bit color is your highest setting - that's 16 million colors. Your video card's 1GB of RAM only determines how much rendered data (usually 3D) it can store and move at any given moment, which is related to but not determined by your screen resolution. That's a very nice card - you should be able to get very good frame rates, color, and performance out of 32bit color and 1280x1024. If you want a higher resolution, you'll need to get a bigger monitor.

Faulty scanned images

Pls check your color Scan settings. Generally there will be some color difference between the original and scanned Image because, the original is 'reflected light' whereas, the scanned image is a 'source light' on the monitor. The monitor setting can also affect the color output. S. Mohan

Need help with ultimate Mahjongg. wont run?

Technical Questions Q. Ultimate Mahjong refuses the run at all

A. Make sure you have DirectX 9 installed, this is a games library created by Microsoft, and can be downloaded freely from here. If it still does not work then you can contact our technical support at support@inertiasoftware.com.

Q. Ultimate Mahjong runs slowly on my computer how can I make it faster?

A. Ultimate Mahjong probably runs slowly because of your graphics card, make sure you have the latest drivers for it installed and that you have DirectX 9. Trying changing between 2D and 3D modes, and see which runs the fastest. Finally, many people find that Ultimate Mahjong runs faster in a 16 bit color mode, so try changing your display settings.

Q. Ultimate Mahjong will not run and keeps telling me I have an incompatible display, what should I do?

A. You should try changing your display settings, some video cards cannot run Ultimate Mahjong in certain color modes. Try setting your display properties to a 16 bit color mode, this usually solves the problem.

Some games use a different setting for the screen resolution other than what you have it set at, and when exiting the game it doesn't automatically reset the resolution. Go into the display properties, and under the settings tab you will find the screen resolution. Set it to 1024x768. This setting should work depending on the screen size and the video card you may need to go a little higher.
