The screen's back light seems to be off but i can

In many cases, especially when the light is low the camera WILL get confused and it will not be able to focus in low light. In most cases what you pay for is how well it will focus in dim light. This camera does get confused easily. In many cases I have moved the camera so it sees something near what I want to photograph and push half way and the move the camera back and take the photo.

Normally, this is in part due to you not replacing it with what should've been an LCD. The reason why it's dim is because those diodes are not getting the required voltage to emit as it should. LCD's work under a different concept where crystals use the light modulating properties of liquid crystals. Liquid crystals do not emit light directly as LED's, because it stand for light emitting diodes.

That sounds like a bad ground to me. Or corroded power wires.

it could be a dim adjustment. did you hook up the dimmer wire to the factory harness if so and your dash lights are low then thats the issue. if not then check the brightness on the unit. if that is not lowered then the internal lights inside the unit have started to burnout. if thats the case uninstall it and send it in for repairs

If the screen light is really dim, its possible the lcd backlight has gone bad. Does it ever flashbright?

If the screen is dim it means the back light needs to be replaced. The back light is what lights up the screen so it is easy for you to read everything on it.

I am sure that the issue is related to the cable that connects to the LCD Display or the LCD Backlight.
There should be some connection shortage because of which the LCD flickers few times as stated by dan231.
I Recommend you to get the Notebook examined as soon as possible before something really goes wrong...

Normally the way it works is if you plug in your AC Adapter to a laptop the computer screen will Brighten up since its no longer running off of battery and is actually charging . The reason why it should go dim is when you unplug the Ac adapter it goes dim to save battery life and last longer. If you are getting a really dim you can check and make sure that the Ac adapter jack on the adapter or motherboard isnt loose and it could be having contact to the unit and be loose inside and every small movement causes it not to charge / charge in and out and would cause this Dim effect. Again this depends on how old the computer is and I dont really think its the LCD or backlight going bad but you can try to mess with the screen brightness and If im not mistaken on that model it should be the FN key and the Right > and Left < Key for lower and higher brightness. Give that a try and check the adapter connection and you can pin point the issue . Hopefully it doesnt come worst to worst which could be a bad LCD going bad or damaged lcd internal cable. Laptops are made to be portable, but they don't seem to be made to use outdoors. I have two laptops and can't use either outside unless it's dark. The problem is that the back light for the screen isn't strong enough, and the screens, mat or glossy, are made to be used inside. Outside the glossy reflects everything, and the mat actually attracts more light to it, making it impossible to see anything on the screen. There are a few companies that make laptops with outdoor screens, but they're very expensive machines, ie... Panasonic Toughbook.
