I actually have 2 lamps brand new for this same tv. The cost of this lamp is pretty high. My T.V. needed a brain, and the cost for this and the repair was toooo high. I'll let the 2 lamps go for $200. each. You can e-mail me @ pgaxiola@verizon.net

Not looking good for your problem. I have not been able to find a supplier on the web or ebay. You might have to call the company and order it from them, but I bet it won't be cheap.

Take the lamp apart and tell us what the numbers are right on the bulb. Projection TV makers charge an arm and a leg for their replacement lamps. They make it easy to do but as a result the custom lamp assy is expensive. The trick is to just buy the bulb for your model TV from any number of us aftermarket sources at a fraction of the lamp price and install it in the old lamp yourself. really easy. Some models are real bulb hogs though. Look them up on the net (include the word complaint or repair) before you buy, or you might be sorry. Many class action lawsuits out there - even against some of the name brand makers.
Hope ya fix it! www.sedonix.com

I have a 65 inch syntax brillian TV. The picture is pretty dark, and I'd like to clean the mirrors and lenses. How do I do that?

Shannon, cleaning the mirror or the lens will only drgrade the picture that's reflected onto the screen. A dark picture is most likely caused by the ~300 watt lamp aging and now needs replacement. You can confirm this for yourself by removing the lamp from behind the right hand speaker door and looking at the bulb-shape at the inside, bottom of the reflector. The bulb should be clear, with maybe a small white patch on the top of the inside of the electrod chamber. If it's a large white patch, or the chamber has any black, or even worse has a deformed chamber, the lamp only needs to be replaced.

I did the longevity testing for the 65" TV's. No other component caused the TV to 'darken' as you state....

Hello starrider,

This is not a problem the power cycling or resetting can help. I would advise you to check the light tunnel for obstructions, dust can cause this, also check the voltage on the Lamp and make sure it is within specifications. The ballast can also cause this problem so I would advise checking it also. For this you will need the schematic, and a Multimeter set to DC volts. If you do not have a background in electronics I would suggest that you have a TV technician perform these tasks. As stated above, this is not a problem resetting can help.

I hope this helps,

If the TV goes in standby, then it is in protection mode.

Ensure also that the fault is not coming from a faulty receiver box sending
bad signal, check if you get same problem on DVD with no receiver box
connected.

Try first leaving the TV power cord unplugged for some times, let say one hour or so.

The flashing light indicates a diagnostic state called protection.
When the TV goes on protection there are only two possible causes.

1Theinternal circuits are jammed because of electrostaticcharges accumulating on capacitors, or because of a wrong voltage readby the main chip on your monitor controller board. this started theprotection circuit.

2 The protection circuit detected a wrongvoltage or abroken contact, identified an internal fault and kicked in, starting the flashing light.

If you are in situation one, then the TV will reset just unplugging power cord for one or two hours, sometimes even minutes.

If you are in situation 2 , then there is an internal fault.

If under warranty contact the manufacturer ringing the number on the user manual

If you want to repair at your own expenses, just locate any good qualified repairer.

On LCD Payparticular attention at inverter and power board, power board can beinspected looking for bulged or leaking capacitors, then tested with amultimeter. The inverter is more difficult to test , there is need toread voltages, should be done by a tech. Also the LCD controller board can cause same problem

On Plasma, test Sustain (Ysus/Zsus) / Buffer boards , cables to plasma, digital board and power board.

On Rear Projection : check lamp, lamp ballast, power board, and convergence.

On CRT TVs, check ballast , flyback transformer, CRT, Tuner, Convergence.
