Question about KLH CDR2000 2-Disc CD Recorder

1 Answer

Deck A will not play/Deck B OK

When I put disk in deck A and hit Play, screen reads "No disk found in CDR deck" or "Invalid media". Same disk plays fine in deck B.

Yes, position of the disc has changed.
I hear 2 faint clicks, but not the same sound as the working deck makes.
Deck B plays all the different discs, but Deck A won't play any of them. Message "No disc found in CDR/ Invalid".

KLH said to call Starlight Media (866-387-2027) for service. Have tried several times, but can't get anyone! I've called all the audio places around here (Syracuse, NY) but nobody works on these machines.

    Thanks for yr help.

Sounds like the CDR deck has an issue. When the disc comes out has it's position changed i.e has it been spun at all? Can you hear any motors moving? Does it work with any type of disc ( cd/cdr/cdrw)?

If you read these boards, Starlight are very unhelpful re: this unit. Not many people do repairs on CDR decks either. I've got a couple of these units with software issues. I would suggest finding a cheap as-is deck on eBay with a software issue and swopping the CDR deck out with your unit.

If that is the case there is a missing B+ line to the display, you will need a circuit diagram to find the fault.

Phillips cdr 200 recorder, just recorded 13 tracks with time left over on sony brand recordable cds for music. i switched from analog to digital to finalize and it took 4 mins however RECORDABLE still...

It sounds like it didn't truly finalize. Try finalizing it again since the 'recordable' status implies it still qualifies. You have to press RECORD immediately after FINALIZE.

The Philips directory lists a few CDR200 models but the documentation contains directiosn for CDR765.

http://www.p4c.philips.com/files/c/

for example...
http://www.p4c.philips.com/files/c/cdr200bk/cdr200bk_dfu_aen.pdf

If for some reason you ever want or need to extract music from a non-finalized CDR or CDR-W, try loading it into a standard DVD player. Without a TOC the player won't be able to display track info or navigate to individual tracks but it MAY play it straight through anyway and you could digitally capture all or part of the output on another CDR. Just be aware that if the original is rewriteable and has old data beyond the new data you will crash into it without warning at the end of the new data, so be ready to pause your copy at the appropriate time.

After i have finish recording and i am finalizing the the cd code OPC appears on the screen, and being finalize the cannot play in other cd player why?

OPC means the unit had trouble Optical Processing Calibration, which means the disc surface may be damaged. Using brand name media and being careful to not touch the recording surface would help.

It's not completing the finalization so it won't play in a CD player yet.

It's mostly in the manual

http://www.retrevo.com/support/Harman-Kardon-CDR-20-CD-Players-manual/id/386dj191/t/2/

OPC: Stands for Optical Processing Calibration.

When you see this message in the Information

Display for the Record DeckK, it means

that the laser transport inside the unit is making

the calibrations and adjustments needed so that

the recording process is optimized for the specific
disc in use.

When an unfinalized CD-R or CD-RW disc is

placed in the Record Deck%, the letters

OPCwill flash once the Table of Contents has

been read. This indicates that the unit is optimizing

its circuits for maximum compatibility with

the specific recordable disc in use. the number

and total running time of any tracks that have

already been recorded will appear in the

Information DisplayK, and the appropriate

indicator SPwill light to tell you if a CD-R or
CD-RW disc is in use.

To Finalize a disc, place it in the Record

Drawer%. Once the disc's Table of Contents

information has been read and the OPC process

has been completed, press the Finalize button

E@and note that the Finalize Indicator

Uwill begin to flash. Within three seconds,

press the Select button9*and note that

the Finalize IndicatorUwill stop flashing.

The Finalization process will take up to two

minutes, depending on the length of material

recorded on the disc. During the Finalization

process the Record Deck will not accept any
operating commands.

Play CD deck through pc

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Yes, it is possible. The Cambridge CD4 deck would be an external signal source of the sound card of the computer. Basically, the R/L Audio OUTPUT of the deck would be connected to the AUX or LINE IN of the PC. A RCA to stereo 3.5mm plug would be needed similar to what is shown below.
e24c131.jpg
Thereafter, enable the AUX/LINE IN in both playback and recording modes of the Volume Control Properties.

Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.

How do I record on my Harman Karman I can't remember?

Put a blank cd in the right deck; put the one you are recording from in the left deck. Close door. Punch dub.. after it scan all the tracks, then punch play/select on the right hand side, then it will dub it for you. Once it gets thru dubbing; hit finalize - lights blink twice, then hit finalize again. once lights go out it's finished dubbing and you can play it back to hear your recording...

Cdm 500 not reading disk 1

First, try the disc that plays OK in deck 2 in deck 1. This will eliminate the disc as the problem. If the disc won't play in deck 1, then the laser pick-up is on it's way out. There is no easy fix for this, it will require the attention of an engineer.

Problem with Sony RCD-W1 CD recorder

'No audio' comes up when you use the wrong type of cdr in the drive. You need a 'consumer audio' or 'music' specific CDR and not a generic computer cdr to use in these units.
