Have a self cleaning Kenmore oven with combination microwave and can't get the cleaning mechanism to work. No manual included when we bought the house. It is a fairly new appliance and am hoping there is a simple solution.

Hi Glenn, thank you for allowing me to assist you!
Based on the symptoms you are describing, you may either have a communication error from the EOC (electronic oven control) or faulty door lock assembly. Let's try resetting your range by either unplugging it or flipping the household circuit breaker to the off position. It is important to wait roughly ten minutes and then turn your range on. If resetting the power does not correct the issue, at this point I would highly recommend reaching out to a service technician who would be better able to assist you in the diagnosis and repair of your range. You can often locate an experienced technician in your area by going to the manufacturer website.
not much, kenmores only use 2 layers of glass and they are known for poor self cleaning. I would stop self cleaning this unit and only clean by hand. I have had fire issues with then due to poor insulation
if your motor is running continuously, the door is locking and unlocking. catch it when unlocked, and unplug the range. then disconnect the power wires from the lock motor. this will allow you to use the oven while you get a new lock assembly and replace the one you have. should be fine after that.
If the clean light flashes 7 times, pauses, then repeats...
the dishwasher doesn't sense a water temperature increase, it will
stop working and lock the functions (clean light flashes 7 times, all
buttons are non responsive). It does this as a safety in case the
element is broken and feeding electrical current into the water.
To resolve this you will have to reset the console. Do this by closing the door and press these buttons in sequence...
the lights will turn on briefly and the machine will start a diagnostic
cycle. You can press cancel or let the diagnostic cyle finish (1-2
minutes). You should now be able to run the dishwasher as normal.
the issue returns, you could have a problem with the heating circuit
(ie. element, thermostat or wiring). It rarely happens but it could
also be the door switch not engaging properly when the door is closed
(slightly bend the door latch down making sure it doesn't hit the door
when you close it).
One of the door interlock switches are stuck. this is the latch mechanism the the door locks into. This is usually accessed behind the control panel, you may have to remove the outer skin of the microwave first. Be sure to unplug the machine for at least 1/2 hour before doing so and do not touch any exposed wiring connectors and stay well clear of the magnetron and capacitor. Do not operate the microwave with the cover off. At this point you can see the latch mechanism as you open and close the door. There will be several small switches on the interlock assembly and they will all need to be tested electrically (multimeter) to isolate the problem switch
