Re: Printer CLX-216X not detected by windows
Change the USB cable. If not recognised by vista. Check also whether your USB drivers are properly installed.
If Printer is not at fault please take the copy or a test print log report by continuously pressing the Big buttton with LED inside. Before that check all the trays are in proper position and Powered.

Before we conclude that cable is faulty, we have few things that need to be checked.
In the device manager check for "Other Devices" and expand it, you may see an device with exclamation sign on it. Right click and uninstall the device.
Disconnect the printer USB and reconnect it back.
Windows 7 detects the hardware and automatically installs the correct driver.
Note:When you connect the USB cable to the printer, and then to the computer, Windows 7 activates Windows Update. Windows Update searches online for the most recent product driver on the Windows Update site. If the online driver is more recent than the driver stored in Windows 7, the computer downloads and installs the updated driver.The Windows Update process takes place automatically. Therefore, you might not notice that the process is in progress. If you dont see any notification on connecting the printer, try plugging to different USB port. If non if these works, replace the cable. Good Luck!!

Buy a Netgear WNCE 2100 which has one wired ethernet port connected internally to a wifi radio which is a 2.4GHz transceiver with WPA security. Fully compatible with most routers from D-Link, Netgear, Buffalo, etc. The samsung printer has a USB port to which you can connect and power the WNCE2100. This product is called by two different names. Sometimes it is called a Universal Ethernet Adaptor and others it is called a Network Bridge--which is more accurate. The Netgear product is b/g/n compatible. Try to place it not more than one room away from the router because the signal strength drops very fast if it is more than one wall and or 40feet from the wireless router.
I had the same problem with my CLX-3175FW. It would find my wireless router, but once I entered the WPA key, there was no connection. I solved this by taking the machine over to the wireless router, and then connect them by using a regular network cable. I followed the instructions in the book which came with the product, and then removed the network cable. After this the machine is connected to the wireless network. Regretfully, I still have problems printing wirelessly, so I bought an USB cable to connect the machine directly to my desktop :(
How the printer is connected to PC Via USB or using Network Cable. If it is connected Netwrok cable than printer configuration page and on netwrok configuration there will be IP Address if this is valid IP Address than reinstall drivers and upgrade the Firmware of the printer.
If Printer is connected USB than try different USB Cable and try different USB Port on the computer
If USB port on the computer is working fine and check in Device Manager if the printer has detected as unknown device or not detected at all.
If detected as unknown device than reinstall printer driver if not detected at all than USB Port on the printer is faulty you need to set up hardware repair of the printer.
you may try to make sure:
1) PC detect your printer when you plug the USB cable in (PC has 2-4 USB interface) and power on the printer, then you can see the indication on the down right of windows bar( indicate find a new device if no driver installed) , it means your printer connection is normal. if windows can not detect your printer go next
2) check USB cable might be some where disconnection, or change another cable, check the the sockets (two side jacks needed), still trouble you may change another PC to test.
I have a brand new HP pavilion, but it wont print from my HP deskjet. If i am lucky i get the first p[age and a couple of lines on page 2. My new laptop (ACER) is quite happy to print using the same cable. printer etc. Conclusion...HP pav is defective. Am I wrong?
Perhaps you can try:
remove the USB connection of the printer;
uninstall and remove all drivers of the Canon IP4200;
reboot your PC;
plug in your usb to the PC from the printer;
power on your printer;
let windows auto detect "New Hardware found";
let windows auto install drivers;
If after plugging in your usb and powering your printer Windows did not auto detect "New Hardware found", it's possible that your printer's usb cable is defective.
If Windows auto detected the Canon IP4200 and auto installed all the necessary drivers but failed in the test print, repeat above steps but instead of auto install, use the original CD driver and not the new drivers (Let me choose which drivers I want".
RESET - User manual is available from the Canon site. There are 2 versions, 1 is a Quick Start Guide in pdf and the other is a User's Manual (On-Screen). Both does not say anything about reset, however you may want to google "fix your own printer" and variations of resetting all sorts of printers are available. Some works, others are ... well you can always give it a try. Or in the On-Screen Manual,you can also try the Troubleshooting/Printing Does Not Start.
Another thing that you can try is installing the printer in another PC using the old CD drivers and see if it works. If it does, then it is a driver issue with the new PC.
If it does not, you're back to reset .
Hope this be of some help to you. Good luck and kind regards.
