Question about Apple iPhone Smartphone

1.1.2 Phone gone "claggy"

Problem is that after I tried to open a pdf document I had loaded on using iPhoneDrive, with PDFviewer, the phone has apparently erased access to all the files in my iPhoneDrive folders, and won't let me access either iPhoneDrive or iTunes, and won't connect to email or Safari.  I can't get a ringtone sound either, and worst of all when I use the 'home' button to do any unlock or quit function it takes 6 - 10 seconds before it actions the command.  HELP!! GB

    Dear Otacon,
    Thanks for the quick reply..
I bought this phone here in Australia, which has been unlocked and jailbroken, as I understand it and uses 1.1.2 with a ninjasim attached to my Next G Telstra sim card
    Thanks,
    Geoff

    Dear Otacon,

I thought it might help if I say that I have the applications SSH, iWorld and Installer installed and (apparently) working.
Still can't connect to my server for Mail or Safari, even though wifi says it's working.
Will receive SMS, too and chimes to say they've arrived and takes calls, though it won't ring, only vibrate for calls
Did I mention that I have tried all the resetting options and apart from having to re-connect to my wifi, etc nothing changed, except that I now don't have any of my contact files, etc.

I have stopped fiddling now while I wait for your reply, so I don't stuff up any further...

    Hi back,
Yes, I have gone through all the resetting procedures, before I cried for help.
A thought... when things first went claggy I (foolishly) deleted the Finder application which would have allowed me to strip out files. It occurred to me ( waking in the early hours, as you do) last night, that I had had a couple of warnings
that the memory was nearly full, when I was loading up third party applications. At that point I had about 2Gb, I think, and thinking I had about enough applications, I then loaded some music and another folder from my Mac of pdf's from my recorder-making drawings and plans. I reckon I should easily have had a couple of Gb left, still BUT perhaps I am simply way over-loaded..
Is there any way I can get in and delete some files without "Finder"?
I've been reading a bit around.. Anywhere I can simply go to restore 1.1.2 direct, or do I have to go back to 1.1.1 first.
Phone came with 1.1.2 (3B48b) out of the box. Phone is a model MA712LL

    Dear Otacon,
Hate to pressure you, but I'm wondering if I missed any suggestion since Feb 16th. I'm aware of your weekend coming in the meantime
and I gritted my teeth and sat the thing on a shelf, because
I haven't wanted to fiddle any more, in case i upset your solution solution.
    Any joy??

Sorry about the delay.. I have been busy trying your suggested site.

Have tried the Ziphone solution and can get it to unlock, activate, etc etc, but the problem occurrs when I try to restore using the firmware restore programs I've downloaded from the net and try to get to through iTunes.
When I try to put in the dmg ( eg 022-3743-100.dmg) I get an error message 1403 ( NOT 1015, as it says in the instructions)
and that file auto erases, so I can't get into it again, or else it asks for a Password.. which I don't have..
    any suggestions.
None of the above has changed my phone's performance at all.

  • beckbits Feb 21, 2008

Correction.. that .dmg is ACTUALLY 022-3725-1.dmg

Box says "enter password to access 022-3725-1.dmg"
    Application is diskimages-helper

    Dear Otacon,
SUCCESS!! Zipfone has come through with the goods!
My problem about passwords disappeared when I was able to get onto a friend's computer and restore to 1.1.3, with the help of the advanced protocols on Ziphone.
It seems like I'm out of trouble for now, and certainly my phone is returning to me nicelyand the clagginess has disappeared.
I'll wait to see what comes of the upgrade, but for now I'm up and running.
Thanks a million for your help and patience.

So I have a bit more reading to do under this firmware, to find out the new do's and don'ts
    Thanks again

Thanks for the more detailed info. It appears that your iPhone's firmware has somehow been corrupted. You say you have tried resetting the settings...correct?

Sorry about neglecting you. I was pretty sure that I had replied to you. Anyways, I have looked into it further and the best way to resolve your situation is to reflash your phone's firmware. For whatever reason, the firmware appears to have been corrupted. Flashing will most probably solve the problem...now the bad part is after flashing....the phone needs to be unlocked again. Was the 1.1.2 firmware, the version that shipped with your iphone?

There is no need to downgrade to 1.1.1. Have you had a look at this site? Lots of info on unlocking the iphone.

I am glad that it worked out for you in the end. Make sure you don't do what you did before to make the phone claggy again. Thank you for using FixYa!

Using your iPhone as a storage device

A secondary benefit of the <i>iPod</i> beyond his playing ability is the fact that you can use to store files. You can not do with an <i><b>iPhone</b> </i>out of the box. But with the help of 10 million dollars and a Mac can. The application is <i>iPhoneDrive</i>, a small utility that displays Ecamm <i>network storage</i> area <b>free of an iPhone</b> in the form of a Finder window in column view. To add files to the <i>iPhone,</i> click the Copy button on the<u> iPhone</u> or drag a file or folder to the <i>iPhoneDrive</i> window by dragging from the <i>iPhone</i> or clicking on Copy From<u> iPhone</u> puts <i>iPhone files</i> on your Mac Keep in mind that audio files and photos for use in the <b>iPhone </b>are off limits

Is there a software that i can use to open microsoft word documents on my nokia 6230i cell phone?

There are java run .pdf readers available but that phone is pre "applications" and smart phones so it is likely the phone would not be able to physically open even them.

I have a i9phone from china and I dont have java.. I cant play any games without it.. I have no java applications or anything.. I need a step by step process how to fix this problem please

Probably you have a phone operating system without JAVA. It is possible because people can change I9/I9+++ operating system by another. One possible to download in net is without JAVA, so there are no chineese games and dialers. But in factory operating system JAVA works and there is JAVA icon. It gets .jar apps installation and some JAVA regulations. One way to return JAVA in phone is to change operating system using MTK tools and special cable (not that used to normal downloading to phone). It is difficult procedure not quite described in net. But... I9/I9+++ has slow , about 50MHz processor and only simple JAVA applications works well. Do not expect to GAMELOFT games work slightly. For instance java pdfviewer load one page about 2-5 minutes.

I wanto to sentd through the fax a pdf document

Your printer has to be on the phone line.
The printer drivers must be installed.
Open the document with your reader.
Select print.
Choose the FAX printer, not the regular printer.
Click print. (you will be asked for phone #, etc)
If the drivers are loaded correctly, that's all there is to it.
