Windows 8 when configured usually uses a microsoft account. When it asks for your password, what does it say your login name is?
If there is a login account such as [email protected] then you use a microsoft login account.
If it simply says "Robleh" then you will be using a local account. Here are some suggestions on how to reset your password in windows 8 for each situation:

I will suggest you to download Hiren's bootable cd from the net which contantains powerful recovery and other tools also and it is freeware . After downloading the hiren's bootable cd you need it burn it into a CD and boot your latop through Hiren's bootable CD. I have set the password for administrator when i entered the bios set up. you can change its setting but not the configuration unless you've entered the password. you can't change the password with a new one if you cant enter the old password. Next time dont forget your password because laptops has its security even when stolen you cant open its bios set up if its protected by password. CMOS battery is in the mother board. You need a service technician to open your laptop to reset the bios setup battery.
