Sony kp-51ws500 has blue and red images out of alingment by about 2" left to right. I have pulled off front cover and turned the b/g/r focus and screen adjustments but doesn't come close to aligning. What's the next step? (Worked great one day then problem came up suddenly.)

For this problem, what you have to do is here I found this solution: Right below your speakers on the right and left side are tabs. Pull out the tabs and remove the screw on eachside. Once that is done remove the speaker cover and you will see a fiber board cover in the middle of the tv, there will most likley be twist ties holding some wires, to make it easier to work remove the ties. Now remove the screws on the fiber board and pull it off. You should see 3 adjustments on the top for focus, do not touch those. Below the focus adjustments on the bottom is the blue, red, and green adjustments (they should be labeled). All you have to do is turn adjustment screw slightly to the left(or counter clockwise) and it should clear right up. That should do the trick, Hope this is helpful. Please dont forget your rating.
Sounds like a bad red projection tube, disconnect red tube socket and try again if tv stays on reconnect tube soket and adjust screen controls on front of tv under the front panel which you will have to remove to do any of this. There are six adjustment controls 3 are for focus for each color and 3 screen controls for each color. Look close at the black plastic control module should be labled R G B for focus and R G B for screens. Good Luck!

Hi,
Sounds like the red picture tube is acting up, there is a voltage control in the front of the tv ..you have to remove the front bottom cover of tv.Depending on model some have screws along the back side, others have 2 screws on the front at the bottom, usually hidden by plastic disks covering the tops. There are wires attached to the front so carefully remove.should be enough slack to just set aside. There is a small door held on with several screws. remove that and you will see the voltage control. It is a plastic square with 6 knobs. Get a good look at it each tube has 1 focus and 1 screen control you want the screen. sometimes the block is put in upside down so that the right knob will actually be for red, and not blue. slowly turn the control to the left, this will decrease voltage. if you turn too far the set will shut off. if it does just twist knob back the other way and try turning on again. You want to turn just enough to make the lines go away. If they won't go away the tubes are shot. If they do go away it might be only a temp fix, usually tubes cause the problem it's just a question of how bad they are. Good luck!
You need to turn the voltage on the red tube down slightly, also you would need to adjust focus to compensate for the lower voltage to the red tube. On the left and right bottom side of speaker cover are two round covers, take them out and there are 2 1/4" hex screws take them out carefully take cover off, there is another service cover same hex screws remove. You will see the focus block on the right side, tubes are labled on block. 2 knobs for each tube. Make voltage adjustments while tv is on a black screen, then for focus, turn color all the way off in the menu, and adjust focus until it looks right in black and white. These adjustments should only be very small; if alot of adjustment is needed, you may have other issues.
Hi There!
This sounds like a typical problem related to a older CRT.
If you remove the front cover of the tv, you can then remove a wood panel. Behind this panel you will see a block (high voltage splitter) it will have 6 "knobs" on it, 3 will say focus, 3 will say screen.
They will also be labeled R - G - B
Put the tv on a blank input so you can see the lines clearly on a black screen - Find the knob for red, and SLIGHTLY turn it down until the red lines disappear.
