Question about Polaroid Portable DVD Player PDM-0822BD

1 Answer

Brightness hidden DVD plays but screen is black. I am having trouble turning up the brightness. I have not used the unit in a while and i think it got turned down to black by accident. I assume it has to do with the mode button. Thanks in advance. JD

ACER ASPIRE BRIGHTNESS STAYS AT EITHER 100% BRIGHTNESS OR 0% NOT INBETWEEN

You are correct in thinking it may be a driver issue. Check the device manager and see if the drivers are installed. Under "Display Adapter", you should see the make and model of your device. If it shows up as Standard VGA Adapter, then you are using built in drivers and should look for the right drivers.

If everything looks good otherwise, then you are probably looking at a faulty LCD/LED. A faulty LCD/LED can yield all kinds of problems, and replacing the entire unit is usually the easiest option. On average an LCD/LED is more or less $50.

There is a Bios setting, it isn't hidden though. Config > Display > Brightness (high/normal).

Try that.

The following solution was posted on Whirpool.

Turn on the unit with no disc in the unit. The No Disc message should be visible
Press the following keys in this sequence
Repeat (not the A-B Repeat, just the plain Repeat)
Fast rewind button (just below the Disc Menu button)
Play button
Down button
Down button
Right Button

The number 9 should now appear towards the left of the screen.

Open then close the disc draw

Turn off the unit and then on again. You should now be able to play DVDs from any region

No picture on tv when i turn on dvd. get split screen black & whi

Give this a try. Using your user's manual, locate the "Configuring your recorder" section. Under this section there will be "System setup - general" subsection. Being that you are unable to see anything on your tv display you will need to use your manual as your display. Press the "SETUP" key on your remote. Once again using your manual as your display, scroll down to "Restore factory settings" and press "ENTER" As long as you are located in North or Central America and using interlaced video outputs you should have your normal display back.
Hope this helps.

Need to turn OFF progressive scan on Sony DVD DVP-NS57P

With the remote: While in STOP mode, press the DISPLAY button. Use up/down buttons to select SETUP. Press Enter. Use up/down buttons to select CUSTOM.Press Enter. Use up/down buttons to select SCREEN SETUP. Press Enter. Use up/down buttons to select PROGRESSIVE. Press Enter. The manual is a bit indistinct after this, but I think the prompts will direct you. Just turn Progressive OFF.

Prima HDTV has a black screen on TV, but works fine while Playing DVD

try turning the channel up or down with the tv remote to input 1 or 2 depending on which one is being used for the dvd player. tv should use input 1. dvd should be on input 2.
when turning the channel set it to show the dvd screen, then go up 1. if it doesn't show, return and go down 1.

Brightness bar is always on the screen.

What you have described is the brightness control being actived all the time. Did you spill any liquid in to it? You may try cleaning it with alcohol and a cotton swab on the inside too! Be carefull it you open it up.
