The problem is one of the RAM. By removing one RAM at a time, you'll be able to identfy which RAM is bad.

I had this problem before. Replace the RAM and it should be fine. No need to replace the motherboard.

Dell Latitude D600 when you turn on the laptop, the three keyboard status lights flash on, then two go out and the middle 'A' light flashes a bit longer then goes out. Machine has turned off. Nothing...

You may have a bad memory chip. If there are two chips installed try taking one out and booting. You do have to leave one chip in the DIMM A slot. Try booting with each chip individually.

The memory has encountered an error. You can try:

1. Reseating the memory.
2. Replacing the memory.
3. Replacing the system board.

I've replace many, many D600 system boards.

'why the ligth for the uppercase letter function flashing for 9 times and the dell d600 don t start

Hi,
basically the problem that you are having is a no P.O.S.T (power on self test ) issue or to make it clear the computer is having some problems turning on. Now, how is the capslock light related to the problem? For dell portables it uses Numlock, capslock and scroll lock key as diagnostic indicators as well. based on your discription, the off-flashing-off combination means that there is something wrong with the main board on your computer. and the badnews is the part costs a lot. you'd probably end up paying $400.00 for the parts and repair.

Hope this helps.

thanks.
