Brother ML-500 Typewriter Typing the wrong characters

When you press "k" it types a "w" when you press "L" it types a "y". None of the keys seem to be mapped properly?? The manual is not helpful.

The printwheel is not in correctly. the printwheel has a bent spoke or the printwheel homing sensor needs cleaning. Lawrence

How do I type the % sign on a Brother ML-100?


If it is typing the alternate symbol you are in KBII. Find the key labeled KBII usually in the top row press the code or alt key with that key to get you out of it.

I am not able to type the @ symbol on my Brother typewriter. Model #EM-530. I have tried everything it is driving me crazy. Thanks for your help!!


If it is typing the alternate symbol on the key you are in KBII. The code key with the key in the top row labeled KBII will get you out of that mode.

Typed characters are too light


Most Brother portables have a coded feature to change impression. Look for the word imp printed on one of the keytops, usually the I key<Hold down the code key and then depress the imp key to cjange the setting.

The shift key is typing the right character on the numbers row


Look for key or slide switch that says KBii press the code and that key or move the switck.

Trouble typing on a Brother ML 500


If it won't type anything, you have a bad keyboard. if it types something else it may be on "Kybrd 2"

Typing characters to the right instead of the regular left one


look for a switch that says "Kybrd 1" and "Kybrd 2" and put it on Kybrd 1.

Brother EM530 Typing Wrong Letters


Hi there. Take out the printwheel and see if any of the spokes are bent. That would cause wrong letters. . Also if the print solenoid(piston) does not go in and out freely. Lawrence
