I am a novice and this is bad enough! I am given your product " LITEON" 20X DVD WRITER for Christmas and as I am waiting for my Son to come home from his U.S. AIRFORCE Base to teach Me, the Fricking 30 day trial NERO VISION Multichannel Plugin is withdrawn and must be purchased!!!!!! I am a Retired Military Widow with a Staff Sgt. Son who is serving his Country and ,buys his Mother this DVD Writer that has done nothing but demand MORE MONEY, because my Son was serving YOU and all In His Country and Your Product has done nothing but demand money to work as it should have 'IN THE BEGINNING"! I refuse to ask my Son to buy what should have been apart of this DVD WRITER. NOW!who do I have to find to throw this **** MONEY Grubbing dvd writer at or should you have any respect for this Country and if you even live in it, send the FULL NERO 7 suite and allow my Son to go back to his Military Base not being ashamed that he gave his Mother a Piece of Crap for Christmas. When he heads overseas I planned to send him Movies to watch. Thanks for making it impossible for a Mom to support her own and other Mothers Sons ,fighting in another War we dont belong in..
I am sorry to hear about your troubles.
It sounds as though LiteOn bundled a limited-time trial of Nero with their hardware. This is a normal/routine
condition of hardware sales. Most certainly the purchase price of the DVD drive did not include the cost of
a fully licensed copy of Nero's DVD authoring software. Retailers often assume that consumers are aware and accustomed to the workings of such bundles, which often is not the case.
I am assuming you are using Microsoft Windows XP as your operating system; please let me know if you are not. XP is capable of authoring CDs, but not DVDs so you will need to either purchase a commercial application or try one of these free applications:
Burn4Free
AVS Disc Creator
DeepBurner Free Version
If your computer is a Dell manufactured computer you can obtain DVD authoring software for free from http://support.dell.com by providing your Dell Service Tag number.
I just ran into an excellent post on the LifeHacker web site that is very relevant to your situation. I would suggest giving it a read.
