Open the router control panel using Internet Explorer. Open wireless page and look for security option. Simplest security measure is setting up a 64b wep encription key it is made of 10 exadecimal numbers (0..9-A..F). It is still a good option to secure home based network. Refer to the router manual for information on how to open the router control panel using internet explorer. Remember to save all changes made to the router before restarting it.

Hope it may help!

My belkin light is on but the internet connection to my laptop keeps breaking up consistently

This sounds like it is probably the networking cables as your PC is directly connected so shouldnt have problems with net access. Get new cables as a first step :0)

Can't set up belkin wifi

You can only access http://192.168.2.1 if your pc has an active connection with your belkin. You don't need internet connection to access that. You are only accessing the belkin configuration page. Check ip address of your pc, IT SHOULD BE 192.168.2.X. if you are not getting this ip your pc is not connected to the Belkin network

Networking

You actually have a couple of issues here. Fix these in this order. 1.) Login to router and turn off wireless (if you're not wanting to use wireless) 2.) Connect the ADSL modem CAT5 port to the WAN port of the Belkin router. 3.) Login to router and turn on NAT and make sure DHCP is enabled. 4.) On your Windows machine turn on DHCP under the network settings. This should allow your connection to be setup automatically and stop wireless access on the Belkin router. Let me know if you need more help. JC
