The wires should be soldered to the speaker terminals. There should be (2) terminals on each speaker.

Good luck!

Is it possible to fix a broken wire

you can repair a broken wire provided you know exactly the pt where the wire is broken..... just turn the wire left and right at suspecious points and listen to the sound..... if you can hear a change in sound at any point, conclude that it is broken there.... cut the wire at that point and solder the wires back in the correct combination to make it work fine...

LG Tone HBS-730 won't turn on. I charge it and the red light comes on but when I flip the power switch it doesn't turn on. any help?

First a couple of questions:

  • How old is the unit?...Battery could be spent and can no longer hold a charge.

  • Is the switch working properly? You should feel a discernable "click" when you turn on the unit. If you don\'t, the piece that moves the on off switch within the unit has probably broken.

    • Fix for broken switch:

      • Get some quality small screwdrivers (flat head and Philips), a small, single color, Terry cloth (to catch small screws), a cutting blade (utility knife), small needle/pin, and a well lit work area.

      • Place Terry cloth on to work area

      • Find rubber stopper just above switch and adjacent to speaker wire that covers the Philips screw.

      • Use needle/pin to remove rubber stopper. Chances are it will fly off once freed from unit, so prick it with needle to attain a firm hold.

      • Use small Philips screw driver to remove screw. Terry cloth should catch screw and keep from rolling off into oblivion.

      • Use utility knife to pry open plastic casing at the seam. It may be best to start at top near the screw hole and work your way down. Use small flat head screwdriver to place between opened area to assist in helping your progress downward. Eventually the entire casing will pop off.

      • Examine the on off switch actuator to determine if this is the problem by moving it back and forth. The actuator should move a small black switch on the circuit board. If the actuator is broken, the switch will move back and forth w/o moving the black switch.

      • If it is determined that the actuator is not moving the switch, use small screw driver to move black switch to "on" position and look/listen for activity, to verify that switch is working.

      • To fix broken actuator, remove it from casing and place on Terry cloth. From examination, you will notice that tab(s) at the bottom have bent or broken off. To repair, a simple solution was to flip the actuator and cutout a the middle section of the tab opposite of the broken end using the utility knife. Be careful to cut too much so that it would not be able to move the switch.

      • Replace the actuator back on the sliding mechanism and test to see if the actuator moves the switch properly. If you cut too much, all may be lost! Perhaps some super glue and a tiny spare plastic piece to attach to actuator may work.

      • Replace plastic covering and replace screw and stopper. (Be careful to return speaker wire knot inside unit to its proper place)

      • Again, check switch to verify that it is working properly.

      • In future, take care when turning on and off the unit. Perhaps too much pressure or faulty plastic may have been the cause of it failing.

There is no way to open the unit to fix that problem. Take it to your retailer for warranty replacement (one year warranty) or call Plantronics at 800-544-4660 x5 x5538.

Since it's somewhere between the ends of the wire, you can use a heat shrink. Here's a video explaining how to use it:

Left headphone stops working

Probably a broken wire, try to isolate where it is at & then cut the wire, strip it back & re-connect & tape it up. To isolate where the break is hook up your headphones & pull, push & twist the wire all the way up to the ear piece till you find a spot where it cuts out or comes on & there is your broken wire.

Plantronic 510 want to open cover

Why bother.  Send in with copy of receipt.  One Year Warranty covers most problems (not physical misuse or abuse though)  Do not open unit.  Will invalidate warranty.
