Question about Palm M100

1 Answer

Static screen Well, I suppose it can't hurt to try, although I'll be very surprised if there's an answer that doesn't involve the trashcan. I got a Palm M100 several years ago, as a gift; it worked for a little while, and then it died. I remember it being somewhat gradual, but I'm not sure - it was quite a while ago. By the time I'd gotten ahold of the person who had given it to me and they had dug up the warranty information, it wasn't covered anymore... I just came across it again in a long-packed-away box, and, well, I'd really liked it while it worked. I put in some fresh batteries and tried it out, and, of course, it still has the same problem it had before - no better and no worse. It turns on, but all that comes up on the screen is a static pattern. I cannot, in fact, turn it off; if it has power, it puts up the static. None of the buttons or poking at the touchscreen have any effect at all. Wait - that's not quite true: The reset button in the back will clear the screen for a moment, so *that* can turn it off briefly, but then it goes back to static. So, I presume the same conclusion I came to years ago still applies: It's dead. But it can't hurt to ask...can anybody suggest anything I might try? Wild solutions that involve opening it up and mucking about with the electronics are entirely welcome, if there's any chance of that helping and somebody knows what I might want to muck with - it sure can't get any *worse*, and there's no warranty to void... Anyway, thanks for reading, at least!

Push the reset button along with the power button. That resets all memory in it and tends to fix the static fuzz.
FYI: The static show on the screen after putting the batteries in backward.

IM icon on home screen

To remove these, press and hold the icon until your phone twitches (or vibrates briefly) and then drag them towards the menu popup (at the bottom of the screen). You will see the pop-up menu button becomes a trashcan. When the icon gets close to the trash it turns red. Just plop it onto the trashcan and it's gone.

Hold down the app for a couple of seconds until it vibrates then drag to the trashcan on the slider tab of the applist. (the up arrow icon turns into a trashcan when you hold down the app for a couple of seconds.)

Found this by accident. I checked and the app was still on the G1 just not on my desktop anymore.

Screen Lock up

If I understand you right there is problem with Touch screen because, I suppose, a mylar is not attached correctly to the Top Case Assy. This causes a permanent pressure on the screen. I am not sure but there should be changed the top case mylar. In my opinion you should contact Service Partner in your country and ask them what the best way to solve this problem is.
