My HP laptop (1 gig memory) crashes when using Photoshop

Thanks a lot for your response!!! The video card is NVIDIA GeForce 4 448 GO. I did clean and compress the hard drive and I have 30 gig free space. I also tried to use my external hard drive for scratch disk, but still, either shut my laptop down or restart. Also, I unistalled Photosho and even cleaned the registry. Any new ideas? Thanks again.

Crashes, as in locks up? What kind of video memory or card you have? And, how do you have it optimized(faster performance, most likely)? This takes a bit of 'tweaking' to get just right.

got backup for your HP?

I installed two new 1 gigabyte memory sticks into a Dell Inspiron 6000, which previously only had 2 256 megabyte memory sticks installed. When I first installed the 2 gigs of new memory, the laptop turned...

Once you installed the memory, did you enter into the System BIOS Setup screen? Do this and verify that the system recognizes the newly installed 2GB RAM. This should let the system access the new memory once you boot.

I have a vgn-b3vp (pcg-5b1m) sony laptop, can i upgrade the memory if it has 512 of none-removable memory and only 1 bank.

Yes, you can use the 1 bank and get higher graded memory, another 512 in the 1 bank would make 1gig, you can probable get as much as 2 gig in the bank to make a total of 2.5 gigs by buying a 2 gig memory stick.

Is 1 gig of ram enough memory to support vista to run?

Hey there you want to use vista?? lol good luck. You need a min of 2 gigs ram to run vista but should ideally have 4 gigs for good operation. vista is a memory hog. You can change the configuration to use less but still need at least 2 gigs

Adding memory to hp dv5000

On HP laptops the memory chips are usually stacked, sitting almost on top of each other...if the memory chip that's in there now is sitting in the first slot you may not be able to see the second slot below it. If that is the case, remove the chip that's in there now and install your two new ones.

Want to increase memory above 1 gig. compaq nx9010

You may have incompatible memory module. Just put in one memory module in at a time to see if it boots up, this will determine which module was not compatible.

Toshiba sattelite

The problem must be the amount of total memory. Maybe the board supports only 1 gig. Chek the manual.

New memory installed in a HP Pavilion dv6000t Laptop-Booting Problems!

I have had bad memory straight out of the "box". Just becuase it's new memory does not mean it's good.

Take it back and get another stick.

Howdy, help up grading memory

The simplest way to make sure you are buying the correct memory for a machine is to use the memory configurators at www.crucial.com or www.newegg.com
