Yes, I would like to repair myself due to the set not worth much $ any more. I actually repair lcd tv's as a hobby, this set is actually my mother-in-law tv. I am trying this service for the first time to see if you can help id the component. I recommended a Sony to them and feel bad and want to help. About how much would a new board be and can you suggest where to purchase? Thanks!

I will accept but won't use service again, didn't learn much more than a link for parts. For your reference, you can purchase service manuals from:

Ahh..the 16 blinker..that's a clear sign that your control board is having a terrible 'hair' day. How old is the TV?

and more importantly, is it under warranty?

oh..that's gonna be a tough one..ok..the blinking light is like a 'non operational' signal. Usually associated with the control board not sending any signals. Like a warning light on a street. At any rate, the big issue is do you want to do this yourself, and how to get a replacement board. The service manuals are not accessible online, and I work on Vizio and Phillips here on Kauai. So, you may need to wrangle one from Sony, and then order a spare part for the control board.

This is a fairly major issue you are confronting.

try this Sony spare parts link. You'll need to open up the back, and get the board part number yourself, and then order it from these guys.

Why does my KD-32FS170 32" Sony Trinitron screen have blue hues

If you turn all of the color out of the TV, the picture should be black and white. If that picture is not a true black and white picture, the TV will produce a color picture that has that behind it. It takes the proper mixture of red, green and blue light to produce white. This is something that is done inside the glass picture tube.
In your case, one color (blue is stronger) and the others are weaker.
It probably had not been used for a while. SOMETIMES, the weaker colors will get stronger with use. Adjust the brightness and picture controls to get the closest you can to a black and white picture, and then add the amount of color that seems right to you. Use the TV and hope for the best. It will improve, but 2%, 10%, or 50%; I do not know. The proper repair is to replace the glass picture tube, which is not an option at this time. So, turn it on, play games, and HOPE for the best.

Count how many times the standby light blinks at one time. These blinking are fault indication. You can get an idea about the faulty circuit part inside, from these number of blinks. After make it sure, if you wish to get more details about Blinking Codes to Sony TV sets, check this link.

Sony wega trinitron will not stay on

Five blinks - AKB circuit (automatic kine bias), the timer/standby indicator blinks for about 30 seconds then goes to the self-diagnosis function. Something is wrong with the video. Check video out, Q705, 732, 761 and other components on the C board, also check Q218, 219, 220 on the A board. In addition, unit could be in IK blanking, try turning up screen slightly.

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
Blinking codes details to many popular brand TVs are given. Surf the site with patience.
