Go to your computer that has the wireless router on it, and go to the router IP address Usually 192.168.1.1 then if it prompts you for a username and password, the defaults are admin, and password1 then go the the network security tab, look for passwords, here you should be able to either see the password, or delete it. NOTE: having an unsecured wireless network is dangerous as hackers can access all of your personal data

How do i retrieve the password for someone to use wireless service

The router's password is a Passphrase or the WEP or WPA orWPA2 encryption key. The Passphrase generates the WEP or WPA or WPA2 encryptionkey and this is in the router's wireless settings. To connect to your wireless router, it needs the router'swireless settings configured ie SSID, WPA or WPA2 encryption key and also thewireless cards in all the laptops and or computers needs to be configured withthese router's wireless settings. Then the laptops and desktop computers cancommunicate with your wireless router.

Im trying to figure out my wirleless password but i cant what can i do

Hi,
Welcome to Fixya. If you need your Wep/Wpa Password (Passphrase) we can access the Wireless Settings Page of the router to obtain the information needed.

To access the router page you need a working computer that is connected to the router. To access your router you need to use a computer that is connected to it. Open a Browser then type192.168.0.1 or http://routerlogin.net. The Default username is admin and the password ispassword. Password is case sensitive.

Go to the Wireless Tab select Wireless Security under the Security Mode you will see thereNetwork Key (Wep/Wpa Key) or Passphrase. The Network Key serves as a password or security code on your network to make it secure. Network Key is case sensitive.

Don't forget to say thanks. Thanks for using Fixya

I am having trouble connecting my new laptop to wireless internet. I need to find the 8 digit pin.

you will need to connect direct to your router to figure this one out.connect a network cable from your laptop to your router port 1,2,3 or 4. now open internet explorer and surf to (instead of www) type 192.168.0.1. you should be prompted for username and password. try the were, try admin and leave the password blank. you can configure your wireless settings tab in the web interface. try using settings WPA or WPA 2 and make up a password., once complete. exit the interface, unplug and see if you can connect with your password you set. Note. its a good idea to change the routers defaut password if not done yet.

Trying to connect my playstation 3 to my network .. its asking for a wpa key ? what is it where do i find it ?

This is the wireless password that was set on your router. If the router was set up by you or someone in your house please refer to them for the password. If it was set up by your provider, most have a sticker on the router itself listing the ssid (the network name) and the wpa or wep code (the password).

If unable to find this, you always have the option of using a Ethernet cable to bypass the need for a wpa password.

My son can't connect to x box live, it keeps asking for the wpa key, what is this and where do I get it from?

Your WPA key is simply put, the password that protects your internet. (Wi-Fi Protected Access). I'm assuming you have a wireless internet and that is how your son is connecting to Xbox Live? (Unless he is mistakenly connecting to another wireless network other than your own.)
Someone in your household should know what the WPA key is, because it was the password set to protect your internet. (Most likely done so on a PC or laptop.)
So here are my suggestions:
1. Make sure your son is connecting to the right wirless network on his Xbox. You can do this by going to Settings --> System Settings --> Network Settings --> Configure Network --> Clicking A once you get to that Menu, and then scanning for Networks. Chances are you will get a few results. In order to connect to Xbox Live, you have to chose your wireless network.
2. If no one in your household knows the WPA key, I would suggest contacting who ever set up your internet, or another option would be to connect to Xbox Live directly, using the modem cable. (You would have gotten this when you originally bought the Xbox.) This can get pretty complicated however, so I would suggest trying to figure out the WPA key.

I hope I was of some help, feel free to contact me if you're still confused.

Wpa key on modem

you need to log in to the modem itself. Type the following in your internet explorer bar:

linksys: 192.168.1.1

dlink: 192.168.0.1

any other models, you need to look at the instruction manual to find the correct address. Once in the setup menu, look for wireless settings.
