How can I fix my 55 cup Farberware coffee urn FSU 255 model and it won't turn on. Any suggestions? It's always worked well before--this is a new issue.

If it will not perk or even get warm, the main heating element (usually in the middle of the pot) is probably bad. Get an ohm meter and read the resistance directly at the pot terminals (looking into the pot) (before taking the pot apart). If you get a infinite reading (or in the thousands of ohms), the perk heating element is probably bad. On my small pot, that element appears not to be replaceable...but pull the base off and see.

If you pull the base off, you will likely see three components; main perk heating element in the middle of the pot, "keep warm" element - may be covered in braid) skirting the edge of the pot, and finally the thermostat that allows the pot to perk for 7 minutes then opening up the circuit to allow current to both of those elements in series just to keep it warm.

Although I don't have a pot exactly like yours, in my smaller pot, the "keep warm" element (covered in braid) and the thermostat (little button pressed by a spring and screw against the bottom of the pot to sense temperature) can be replaced...go to Goodmans.net.

I have had my coffee pot for 3 months, it makes coffee fine, but after awhile i find a whole bunch of leakage on counter. Leaking from coffee container. I took bottom apart and didnt find nothing wrong...

I have a different brand but mine has a thermos inside of the coffee pot itself. The seal at the top kept leaking. Solution was to put some food-safe grease on the seal AND most importantly was putting some on the plastic parts of the screw on the bottom that puts pressure on the bottom of the thermos. The threads gaul and one cannot tighten the screw to put enough pressure on the bottom of the thermos to get a good seal at the top.

Not sure if yours is this type, but if it is this might be a solution to try.

How do I take apart, and clean my coffee maker?

The only parts that should be removed to clean are the pot and the basket. The remaining parts you just clean with a cloth and hot soapy water (squeezed out) then you clean the inside with 1 part white vinegar and 1 part water. Run a cycle through the pot then run again with just plain water. This do once every 3-4 mos. depending on how often you use your coffee pot. You can actually put them on the top of a dishwasher rack also. You may risk electrical shock if you take it apart.

Kenmore Elite coffee maker Model # 100.9101670A Is this model on a recall? How can I get a manual for it? And what is the filter reset button?

I have a manual with mine and as far as "recall" goes on this model, I've not found anything recalling this particular model...

The most important thing in the manual, that I have found, is how to clean and change the filter. If all else fails unplug the pot for 10-15 seconds; replug it...this resets it...(if it ever acts up, do this; it helps)

The filter reset button: Your coffeepot should flash a small message stating: "change filter and clean" To do this you first, turn off the pot, remove filter~(the filter is in a long thin black plastic thing and the filter cover simply snaps and pulls apart to expose the charcoil filter; Remove the Filter, then fill the coffee pot with 7 cups of vinegar plus 7 cups cold water; Place a paper type regular coffee filter in the brew basket, or a thin paper towel works well too~(This traps and holds particles that get trapped inside the pot)

Before brewing; PLEASE NOTE, brew the first pot of vinegar/water mixture only HALF WAY then TURN OFF and let it sit for a good 15 minutes to soften any deposits...
Turn the pot BACK ON and brew the remaining solution. When brew stops turn OFF coffee pot, empty the solution, and discard the paper filter...

Refill reservoir with cold water and turn ON; you may want to dump this and refill with more cold water to ensure the vinegar taste/smell is gone...

Now, wash the brew basket and the glass pot...Open the black skiny Water Filter and replace with a new charcoil filter...Put Filter back in pot...fill brew basket with coffee and brew some mighty fine tasting coffee!!! Hope this helps....Good Luck

Farberware 12 cup electric percolator leaks

Hi, if you have a China pot toss it. If you have a USA pot, Get ahold of a 1 3/8" socket. Take the base off and you will see a square nut on the bottom of the main heating element, put that in a bench vice and thighen the nut up inside the pot. You will only have to turn it a tiny bit. While you have it apart check if it still leaks, if so thghten a bit more. You will get nowhere without the vice and the socket. .Try to stay away from the keepwarm element ( little white rope looking thing ) Good luck. Ron

    Coffe residue inside coffee pot

Add some automatic dishwasher detergent ( maybe 1/4 cup) and fill the rest of the pot up with very hot water. Swirl to combine. Let stand for a few hours. Use a bottle brush to scrub the pot. Or get some denture cleaner tablets and throw them into the pot with hot water. Let stand a few hours or overnight, then scrub with bottle brush. I've tried both methods on my coffee pot and both work great for me.

The power cord is hot but no lights or clock, nothing works.

ok " un plug coffee pot, if you take the base apart you will find the wiring, follow wiring to a round disk on the heating tube ,
that disk is a heat sensor , replace that sensor .

any appliance parts store will have them

sensor is bi-metal on the inside when it gets too hot it shuts power down.

    Leaking cuisinart grind and brew

Our Cuisinart grind and brew was leaving a puddle under it after making a pot of coffee. I called Cuisinart this week and it turns out the handle of the carafe has to be lined up in the middle of the opening for the carafe. It will be under the word Cuisinart, in the middle.

We have now made several pots with NO residual puddle of water or coffee. It also seems to be making the pots quicker.

Before trying this I had run 2 pots of water with 1/2 cup white vinegar in it also. But it still puddled until we lined up the carafe as noted above.
