Question about Lenovo ThinkPad T61 Notebook

2 Answers

Internet connection I got my laptop a few days ago. The first night it worked fine. I was able to connect to the Internet with no problems (cable). When I logged off, I downloaded quite a few Window XP updates. The next morning, I wasn't able to connect at all. I also could not install my printer since it won't recognize the network. How should I fix this problem? Thank you Jyene

For some reason, the System Restore will not let it restore back to the last point. I think it is due to the security updates.

Under Network Places, I have no connections showing at all. Not the lan cable nor the wi-fi connection. Prior to all the updates, these showed up just fine.

I know the network card and cable connection are working because upon bootup, I can hit the ThinkVantage button to access that feature without booting the OS. In this area, I can connect to the internet just fine. This is what is leading me to believe that the updates fragged some setting in Windows XP.

Yes, I am having very much the same problem on my Lenovo T61. I check my NIC in device manager, and they are showing up just fine. But when I go to command prompt for the ipconfig/all it does not show anything????

basically; I just lost the network connection...

    Help! help!

I am having what seems to be the same issue. We usually use Dell, but the corporate standard is IBM. Corporate issued a new user this Lenovo T61. I loaded all of the apps and then moved to a faster network connection to pull the users data over. I noticed that I got a message that this was a new network would you like to label it. I did so and all was good. When I finished up and brought it to the user, the usb and network jacks in the dock station wouldn't work. I powered off and back on, with still no luck. This morning I noticed on the lid that it states easy access connection manages your network connections. I assume that this is what is the issue. I believe that I need to un install this software. It seems a little strange to block network ports on a business laptop.

You just have to restore windows if it is windows xp professional.

From go to startup >all programms >accessories.>system tools then there is (system restore option) just click on it and restore windows to previous date entry when it was working fine .

It will solve your problem

Hello
Wow youve done almost everything here. How about the firewall? is it blocking any connections?

Next,Go to control panel, network and sharing center.Look and see if the pc or laptop in question is on the same network, meaning home or public.

Set all your machines to the same network.Either home or public.I do know this has been a win 7 problem.

There is not so much that could be done to repair a keyboard. Disassemble the laptop, check the ribbon cable connecting the keyboard to the motherboard. If the ribbon cable is loose, tighten it. If it is tight, replace the keyboard with a new one

Fn F5 not working

You have to configure the settings for the external display (TV) in windows.(assuming that's your OS)
Go to control panel >display >properties >advanced and make sure the TV is selected and active as secondary display.

Verify that you get a picture on the TV when doing this, if you do - you're all set.
Restart the computer and the problem should be fixed.

No connectivty to internet

Your problem is very indicative of an assigned ip address to your wireless card. Assuming you have windows xp as your operating system. Go to start, run, type in CMD, once the dos screen appears type ipconfig and look to see what your assigned ip address is.

You should add a external wireless adapter. It will have a disk for with a new set of drivers. This will give your computer a new set of eyes.Look for your Network and try to connect. Good luck.

Stopped connecting to internet through land line

hi there, i had kind a same problem with u, the only difference is mine shows "connected" but i can't surf the internet when others in my network are doing just fine. 1st i tried to uninstall my LAN card driver and the reinstall it back. It worked, i can surf the internet but only for a few minutes. So i installed a firewall, in my case, i installed windows defender. After reinstalling my LAN card driver, i realized an unknown program tried to change some of my LAN driver files, so i denied the program access using windows defender. The problem solved !! Maybe it's a virus or spyware, i don't know because before installing windows defender, my avg and antispyware don't detect any virus/spyware. Hope this help, gud luck

Cannot maintain wireless connection

Try manually add the network. If the problems continue, I would turn the laptop in for repair/replacement (if it under warranty).
