The lamp is not the problem..The term is light engine.  It costs 456.00 for a new one.  Lamps cost much less.

This is a DLP type TV and if you mean the lamp, that is not a bad price however:
Projection TV makers charge an arm and a leg for their replacement lamps. They make it easy to do but as a result the custom lamp assy is expensive. The trick is to just buy the bulb for your model TV from any number of us aftermarket sources at a fraction of the lamp price and install it in the old lamp yourself. really easy. Some models are real bulb hogs though. Look them up on the net (include the word complaint or repair) before you buy, or you might be sorry. Many class action lawsuits out there - even against some of the name brand makers.
Hope ya fix it!

That is actually a good price for a light engine. Most cost over a
$1000. It is not normal for it to need replacing but
unfortunantly, is not uncommon either. If it overheats cause of
the lamp getting hotter as it ages, or the ventilation gets plugged, or
the temp sensor is bad, then the plastic housing on the light engine
warps and the whole thing has to be replaced. Toshiba may do this
for you under warranty. Even if it is beyond the 1 year period,
lots of the companies with this problem are extending the warranty
period. Call them and be persistant.

Cost of repair 46 samsung lcd.convergence problem

The cost to repair this problem is about $400-500 depending on local labor rates. With new flat screens as low as $500.00 it doesn't make sense money wise to repair it, this is especially true if the TV is more than 4 years old, flat screens last about 6 years at most before problem s start like burnt out back light bulbs (another $400.00).

I have a 1997 960 volvo. a mechanic informed me that i have a cracked valve cover. you can see a few oil drops of oil on the ground after driving, and there is oily residue on the engine block, by one of...

FOR a cracked Valve cover, $500? Find another mechanic. The valve cover might cost $40 and a new seal is $7 or $8 and 20 min to put it on. Now, if he actually talking about repairing the Head $500 is about right but not for a valve cover.

My 2004 Mazda 6 Sport Wagon starts with a cloud of white smoke. It burns oil like there is no tomorrow and the dealership tells me I need a new engine because this one's dead (66,000 km). They want $2200...

It is too much. The cost is high since it is at dealer. Go to an independent shop it will cost about $2400 with an old engine (50K miles) plus labor (labor costs around $750) with one year warranty.

Mitsubishi wd52725 wavy pic

If this is a rear projection set you needs the convergence IC replaced,
the model # wd52725 indicates it may be a DLP (probably not correct). If its a DLP the problem is within the power supply or video/formatter boards. The convergence ICs should cost between $250 and $400 to have a servicer install them depending on their labor rates.
If this is a DLP model the power supply repair (just capacitors) would cost the same, but if the boards are bad it would be over $500 to have repaired.
Is it worth the repair? Most servicers charge an estimate fee $60-$120
perhaps for can ask them for their labor rates for the IC install instead of having them drive out and tell in person what they could say over the phone.
Compare the repair prices with the replacement price and decide based on, your budget, how old the set is, what you paid for it originally.
You can buy a new 52" proj set for around $1000-1200 DLP or LCD
you will get a 1 year warranty on a new set, but only a 90 warranty on the ICs. If you buy a new set try to buy the 3 or 5 year extended warranty to protect your investment.
hope this helps

Hitachi 50v710 Yellow spot

I found out that Hitachi has a class action law suit against them for the light engine problem. I called them and asked what they were going to do for my tv which is out of warrenty. The reply was that they would pay for new light engine. I said what about labor. No they would not pay for labor. I asked to speak to supervisor. I was told by supervisor that the tv had to be inspected by certified repair person. Cost for this was $125 but would be applied towards the total labor cost. Repair guy came to house walked in and said he did not even have to turn tv on to know the problem. We called Hitachi to set up shipment of part. Hitachi told me at that point that they would cover all labor costs also. Part has been installed this week and tv is like brand new set.

Hitachi 50V710 Yellow screen

I contacted Hitachi (800-448-2244) on 02-18-09 and spoke with customer service rep. name Joyce. I explained the yellow in the middle of the screen and told here a Tech came out and said that the problem was the light engine not the light unit. She immediately said that she would send a brand new Light Engine to the repair company that diagonsed the problem. She said I would have to pay for labor. The light engine is a $1000+ part and the repair company said labor would be $300 dollars. The key is you have to say that a tech looked at it and diagonsed it as the light engine and not the light unit. Find a repair company in your area and let the customer service rep. know that they looked at it about a month ago and you can't find the paperwork. The customer service rep will then recommend a company in your area to come and look at the TV. The tech company will probably charge a tech fee $100+ dollars, and about $300 for labor, all total $400 for parts and labor is not bad when the Light Engine itself is a $1000+ part. Hope this helps.

Open the set and see if there is anything inside the set, like cobwebs, ect. Also look down into the tubes while the set is on to see if there is anything floating around inside the fluid. My educated guess is that it needs cleaning. Good Luck PS Please do not forget to rate this thread
