Question about Mitsubishi VS-5043 50" Rear Projection Television
This began as a slow start to get picture. Now has evolved into no picture , but good sound. Had a few flashes of color described as a prism just prior to going black. Will work normal again after many hours or days.
Got sound but no picture fix = take out the tuner board and look at the solder joints on the bigest module Q-DMS you will find the solder joints has broken or burned where the connection is not making, just resolder the joints and you'll be happy, worked for me..Most all of the no picture this is the cure..

SOURCE: sound , but no picture
The only solution to fix this problem is to get itrepaired.Th repair will cost anything between $300-$400. the problem is with the convergence ICs.
My guess, without the benefit of some hands-on testing, would be the high voltage flyback and HOT are defective.
Few troubleshooting steps you can try:
1)Do a hard reset by unpluging all the cords for 4hrs and then plug it back.
2)The whacking test is to just bang or smack the set with your hand on the back, side, top, etc., to see if there are loose connections or cold solder joints inside that are acting up. If so, the banging should knock them back to normal and the set should restore. You might have to use some creative banging and some have had to put a book or magazine under one corner to torque the chassis enough to get it to work reliably.
Please don't forget to rate the solution as fixya..
