If your cpu will read your zen, you can delete files by going to ZEN media explorer. If youre cpu will NOT read youre zen, find the fix for it at another FixYa.

Tt'll try to load a song (and will then crash.

maybe the file itself is corrupt.

Have you tried with other files?

If you did and they played well all you have to do is to get the song again

My 16GB creative zen is on recovery mode after installing an upgraded soft ware

You must give it the firmware upgrade from support.creative.com, or it will not be able to get out of this mode. Support.creative.com

Creative Zen
Try another PC or another USB port
Make sure the hold/lock is not engaged
Reset
Check for firmware update on Creative's website
Get Recovery Tool from Creative
Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.
If all else fails, check with this guy:

My Creative Zen Frozen in Docked Screen

Hello,

The following worked for me. Go to the Creative Zen Support warranty info page of their site:

http://www.creative.com/products/mp3/MP3PlayerRecoveryTool/welcome.asp?

I ran the recovery tool with my zen connected to the computer and it changed from being in a docked state to updating firmware, after it had done this it worked fine again.

How do I reset my zen?

What you can do is have the zen rebulid itself.....add an album to the library and delete it in the media source manger. As you are deleting it, push the reset button on the bottom of the player forcing it to crash. That is the only way to get the player to rebuild itself. It works....make sureto have your music backed up.

If your Zen V is dead, wont respond to anything, try this, plug it in to the computer, hold the power switch in the on position, THEN trigger the reset button, worked like a charm for mine, I had thought it a lost cause."

Crashed

The songs that are skipping are most likely corrupt or have been encoded incorrectly.

Delete them and that should solve it.

Best of Luck.
