Hi, It is a new pc and I did have sound but there was a problem with the BIOS which is now fixed and I have lost the sound. I am informed that I need Foxconn Nvidia 651G audio driver.

    Thanks

    Thanks I will try that.

Do you know what was changed in the BIOS? You are almost certainly using integrated audio and it's possible that it's been disabled in the BIOS. That seems a bit more likely to me because you say it did work. Unless you uninstalled the driver it should still be there.

Can you go back into the BIOS and see if the "On Board Sound" is enabled?

What type of computer is it?

    Could be a dozen things...

Did you ever hear sound? If you did, did you change anything or install software of any kind? What kind of computer is it? Are you using integrated sound or do you have a PCI board? What have you tried?

You need to give more information if you want to give anybody a chance to solve this.

Ive connected my speakers to my pc but there is no sound i have a usb lead one end and a headphone jack at other.it just keeps saying no sound device found.as this is my first computer im not sure wat to...

it means that your computer doesn't have sound card, but most PC has built in sound card. all you have to do is, go to bios setting ( mostly press ESC or F2 or DEL) upon booting, set sound enable, save setting and exit.
If OS doesn't have built in driver, you should install driver for your sound card in order to get it works. It's good idea if you have mainboard driver CD with you. It contains all the driver of your PC

I am geting a distorted song in my computer speakers

What do you mean more exactly by "sound like if the computer freeze"? If you set wave or master volume on your PC too high, the sound card or the speakers may get overdriven, which results in distorted sound. So you could try lovering the voume in your PC, and set it higher on the speakers. (On the contary, if you set volume in your PC very low, and very high on the speakers, sound will get noisy.)

New headphones

Try plugging them into the jacks on the back of the PC case. Make sure you connect the right connector to the right jack. If this works, then there is a problem with the front jacks. Sometimes they are left unattached when the PC is assembled.

Also, check in control panel under sounds and make sure you have a sound scheme selected. If it says no sound scheme, select one, the click NO if Save sound scheme prompt comes up.

Scratchy Sound, Major Problem

Try the speakers on another PC with good working sound. This will indicate either a speaker problem or a sound card issue.

If speakers work ok on 2nd pc, then you have a sound card issue on your pc. If speakers are still scratchy on 2nd pc.. check the metal connector end, make sure it is clean and shiny. If there is any rust or other oxidation, clean it off with a very fine grade of sand paper
