Question about Kodak EASYSHARE 5500 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Kodak easyshare 5300

Have just purchased new printer.
Photo's print with regular horizontal lines 2mm apart all the way down (in blue)

A4 word docs print with lines across and with a shadow behind and beneath all characters in all fonts.

Have installed software from both internet and cd having removed first installation.

Have calibrated printer 3 times and cleaned printhead from menu settings.

Same fault applies to copy function when printer not connected to PC.

Help - is printer faulty or am I faulty

    To SDtester above.

Many thanks for the advice. I think you were spot on. I did replace the ink cartridges a few times (both b&w and colour) but not as many times as you suggested.

Meanwhile, not confident of such a speedy response, I phoned Kodak help centre who advised me to get a replacement printer from the shop as I had only bought it that day.

The shop replaced it - the new one is up and running - and, as you say, produces top quality prints.

Very many thanks for your time and sound advice

It sounds like you have a bad contact between the printhead and the printer. First remove the inktanks. then remove the printhead. Now re-insert the printhead and remove it - do this a few times. What this is doing is scraping off anything that is blocking the full contact between the printhead and the printer. It should only need to be re-inserted like 3-5 times. Then leave the printhead in and install the inktanks and print again. If this does not work call Kodak and request a replacement printhead (they should not charge you its not your fault this is happening) or return the unit to where you purchaced it and ask for a new one. Once you get rid of the problem you will like the printer they do print great quality photos for such a low cost ink.

Hi, I have a Canon i4600 printer. I have not used it for awhile but am now consistently getting parallel white lines 2mm wide across an a4 B&W photo print. Any ideas Thanks

The ink-jet printers if not used get the ink dry and this can affect the quality of the printing as well as the print head. So it is recommended you use it every once in a while to avoid ink getting dried inside.

This evening I bought a new HP Photosmart C4780 printer. I am trying to print photos now and the photos are being printed with small vertical lines across the whole photo. How do I get rid of them?

> I bought a new printer

Take it back, and get one that does work correctly.

> VERTICAL lines ACROSS the whole photo

Hold the paper in "portrait" mode, not "landscape" mode.
Are the lines HORIZONTALLY-ACROSS the paper,
or VERTICALLY-DOWN the paper?

If those lines are WHITE and HORIZONTAL,
then some of the many ink-jets inside the print-head are *CLOGGED*.
Run a "print-head-cleaning-cycle" to try to unclog it.
Or, exercise the WARRANTY, and get it replaced.

Getting blue horizontal lines through all docs and photos. Just replaced both black and color cartridges.

Blue or red lines that go across the page and outside the printed area usually depict a Main board fault.

Canon Pixma MP130 printing lines through pictures etc

I'd say it's probably the printer driver. Uninstal and reinstal it or update it. Printer drivers are a comon cause of printing faults.

A blue line , 2mm, appearing at bottom of page.

Hi Info39684,
It sounds like your Cyan imaging unit has gone down.
Have you thought of changing the orientation of your paper from A4 protrait to A4 landscape. If the blue line is at the bottom, changing the orientation should hide the problem. It's not going to fix it, and if you use A3 then you will see the line again. It's just an idea and you could save yourself £250 on a new unit.

Follow the steps in this Kodak link, re seat the print and then test your printer. If it does the same thing, I would say you have a faulty printer. Return it for a different one.:

I had this trouble, went through cleaning & realignment, then various print options. What i found was that dark colours had faint dark horizontal lines 5mm apart when printing on Photo in the epson driver. Changing it to Best Photo solved it.
