I have two ZyXEL G-470 wireless ethernet adapters (bridges) which I am trying to connect to a Linksys WRT54GS router running Tomato firmware. The first bridge (either one, doesn't matter) links fine. The second refuses to link, or links sporadically. I can only get it to stay linked if I attach a wired cable to its WAN port and enter the admin console. It then links immediately. However, after a few days, the link becomes sporadic again, and eventually both bridges lose their links. I contacted ZyXEL tech support but they couldn't re-create the problem (they didn't have a Linksys router to test with). I even got a third bridge and it does the same thing.
I suspect the router, although it supports every other wireless device on my nextwork (I have 4) without a problem. I have tried different configurations on the ZyXELs (MAC cloning, static IP, DHCP, only b or only g modes ... with no success.
The i =ndications are quite clear it's a concern with router's wireless reception...try to reconfig wireless settings on your router change channel to 1 if still the same router is not sending wireless signals properly..

You can update the Linksys Firmware to a newer version if is available, please check the Linksys support site
Another chance is to change the Wireless Channel maybe 11, to avoid any intereference with wireless phones.
Some more detailed info.. It is pretty annoying to do though. I'll try my best to explain. First you have to set one of them up as a wireless bridge (the one you are setting up as a wireless bridge won't be able to use it's wireless for anything else besides connecting to the other router). By doing this you can use the router as if it was a wireless adapter. If you want it to be a repeater and have a wired connection. Set it up as a repeater bridge. You will probably have to install custom firmware (dd-wrt or tomato.. they are both pretty much the same)to be able to set it up as one of those. You will have to download the one for your router and install it. I recommend that you read the instructions carefully. A laptop where you can move around to the routers and set them up is useful.
you may be suffering from mixed Cat 5 and Cat 6 cabling. The wiring is slightly different and they don't work well when mixed in routers and modems etc. One or the other will work , but when they're mixed it'll do what you have going on here...
I would recommend wiring everything with cat 6 ethernet cabling. Look on your cable and you will find the labeling on the outer casing.
What do you want to know about the ports? The one separated from the other ports is the Internet port. that is where you're going to connect the cable from your modem. The other four are the ethernet port where you will connect the computers.
Seems to be that u r facing a intermittent connection...no need to worry about that we can resolve this issue...

select the version no...u can see "FIRMWARE"...download firmware and save it in to ur desktop of ur computer and close all the windows...
now open internet Explorer and in the address bar..enter as 192.168.1.1..it will prompt for a
user name and password..leave the user name blank and the password will be admin.
In the set up page in the black bar u can find "Administration",click on Administration.below administration in the blue bar u can find "Firmware upgrade" click it..
Now u can see the option browse...click browse and select the downloaded file from ur Desktop and click upgrade...it will say like "upgrade successful" and click continue.
Now turn off ur modem and the router..wait for 1 minute..
Turn onn only the modem first and wait till all the lights lit.now turn on the router and
wait till the power light is solid..open the internet Explorer it should work.
Hi, I am having the same problem with the WRT54XG4 but i discovered that if you disconect the internet port of your router and leave the ethernet port conected to your computer. You can access to the router and you can upgraded.
For what it is worth, I fhave found streaming video does not function well using a wireless connection. The options of multipale routers will work as long as you configure them as to not have conflicting IP address assignment's via DHCP, and the routers do not have matching IP address's. Never fear all is possible with paticence. BPCS
