You will most likely find the drum on Newegg for the cheapest. I just purchased a DR-510 from them for about $100. Staples charges $170 for the same drum! Do the math.

The drum is one unit. Item number DR510. You can get it at office depot or any other office supply store.

It started making a terrible noise when spinning then when it finished the drum inside would hardly spin round when pushed by hand then i took top of and noticed belt at back was off so i struggled putting...

The drum bearing has very likely failed and seized.

If the outer drum is polypropylene (plastic) then the bearing cannot realistically be replaced and the entire drum assembly needs changing. This is not usually cost effective unless you can find a suitable used donor drum from another broken machine. Even then, it's usually better to use your machine to donate the parts needed by the other unit.

If the outer drum is steel then the bearing can be replaced if you can get the spare part, but the drum must be completely removed to do so and it's a major job. The old bearing needs to be drifted out (I use a short off-cut of scaffold pole) and the new one needs drifting back in. (Drifting means using a heavy hammer and a suitable object or "drift" to place against the item and spread the load evenly. The hammer hits the drift, not the work item). If you have to drill out spot welds in the washing machine casing to separate the outer panels in order to remove the drum (common) then you can use pop rivets afterwards to reassemble it. Note that you will probably need to replace the drive belt as well, but try using the old one first unless it's clearly been damaged.

Bearing replacement is a major job and due to the extensive labour costs and risks of the job failing a professional usually just changes the entire drum assembly, but anyone good with car repairs should have the tools and experience necessary to do this on a DIY basis. The bearing itself is usually quite cheap and if Hotpoint can't supply it you should be able to take the old one to a specialist bearing shop and obtain a direct equivalent.

Good luck and please take a moment to rate my reply.

We are getting a drum error. Could this mean we n...

A drum is a seperate consumable part of your printer that needs to be replaced on occasion. How frequently depends on your model but usually 25,000 prints or more. Some laser printers have the drum inside the toner cartridge but since you are getting a drum error message my guess is your drum is seperate. It is hard to say without knowing what model of printer you are having the issue with. Go to the manufactuers website and look for the drum for your model. Replace it and you should be good to go! Repost with your printer model information if you need some help finding the part.

Brother hl 5140 drum light comes on then off every 4

With the front cover open, press and hold down Go button until all 4 LEDs are lit. Once all 4 LEDs are lit, release the go button, then close the front cover.

This will reset the drum counter.

the drum is the tray that holds the toner, it comes out when you remove the toner. you can buy this part at any store that sells the toners. it is normally more expensive than the toner but will last you about 4 of them

Need to replace wheel cylinder but can not get rear drum off what toool do I need

If you can wiggle it, It usually due to a rust "lip" that build up on the inner part of the drum. All you can do is keep prying on it with some big screwdrivers, being careful not to bend the backing plate. I have has to cut some of the real bad ones off with a cut off wheel.
If it seems frozen to the center hub, use torch heat (Not the little ones, a real one), and when cool keep spraying on a rust penetrant.

How do I reset the Drum counter on a Brother HL-5140?

Caution! Reset the drum counter only when you replace the drum unit with a new one.

To reset the Drum Counter:

1. Press the cover release button and then open the front cover of the printer.

2. Press and hold down the 'Go' button until all four LEDs are lit. Once all four LEDs are lit, release the 'Go' button.

3. Close the front cover. Make sure that the Drum LED is now off.
