Question about HP DeskJet 3930 InkJet Printer

Printer Error Code 20 HP Deskjet

I have a deskjet HP 3930 printer. When I try to print any document, either from one of my word processing documents, or from the internet, I get a message box that says Printer not activated, Error code 20. I have rebooted the computer, turned off the printer, and still have this error code show up.


Any Assistance would be greatly appreciated.

    My HP printer does not print but tells me I have error Code 20. It did print as recently as a couple of days ago. I have no idea of what Code 20 is nor how to fix it.

How To Resolve HP Error Code 20-Printer Not Activated?

This kind of error message in the HP printer which signifies that "Printer not activated - Error Code 20" is displayed usually on the computer while printing. It is suggested by HP code 20 technical support experts that before proceeding to the solution, they are requested to verify if the printer is working fine? This can be performed easily by printing a self-test page and verifying that the USB connectivity from the printer to the computer is well maintained.

Cause of this error

The error may be the reason where wrong printer is set-up as a default printer and the printer driver is missing, or if there are few conflicts found in the device manager.

Steps to rectify the error code 20 in the HP printer
Step1: It is essential the printer is set as a default printer
?Click on the "Start: button and then click on the "Printers and Faxes" icon to open the Printers folder.
?If it is found that the desired printer icon is missing, then a users is requested to proceed to go to Step two.
?Make sure that the desired printer has a proper check mark which should be located next to it indicating that it is set as a default printer.
?If the desired printer does not have a prominent check mark, then just right-click on the printer icon and then click on the "Set as Default Printer" icon.
?Tap on the printer icon, and click on the "Print Test Page to print a Windows self-test" page.
?If your Windows test page prints successfully, it is suggested by HP code 20 tech support to close all the windows and try printing again from the application what they were using before.
?If the Windows test-page is not print yet, then go to Step two.
Step 2: Re-installation of the USB Composite Device from Device Manager
?Click on the "Start' menu and then tap on the "Run" button.
?Type the devmgmt.msc command directly in the Run window and then press the "Enter to open the Device Manager Window" icon.
?Click on the "(+)' which is located just next to the "Universal Serial Bus Controllers".
?Right click on the "USB Composite Device" and then click on the "Uninstall" button. Click on the OK.
?Disconnecting of the USB cable directly from the computer and then reconnecting it required.
?Follow all the instructions in the "Found New Hardware wizard" to easily install the drivers.
?Right-click on the printer icon, and then tap on the "Print Test Page" to easily print a Windows self-test page.
?Close all the windows and then try to print from the application which you were using before.
Step three: Reinstallation of the HP Software

If all the above steps do not work for your problems, please uninstall and then reinstall the HP software carefully.

Dear rowanleigh,

What u have to do is just unistall the printer Driver restart the system then Reinstall the printer driver. and also do one thing delet all the temp files, temporary internet files & run the Disk cleanup tool.

itz problem/error of print pooler..
often happens due to overload/document mismatch/page error and so on..
itz very common..don't panic..!!..

set all the document in pool to delete..just turn off the printer..restart the system..
hope it'll b fine..

best to seek guidance of ur system admin/vendor....
