HOW DO I REPLACE OR CLEAN THE INK ABSORBER FOR THE IP1800?

Hello,to replace it you must take it to cannon service,to clean it you can try Opening your printer,but first wear glove to protect your hands,locate the waste ink pads on the instide of your printer(small partson the right).You can remove the pads and the holder with gentle pull,using a tissue or a sponge soap as much ink you can and clean the area around the waste ink.It should be one more waste holder in the right back bottom of the printer. A kind of sponge. There are few screws and plastic parts to be removed and this sponge needs to be washed, dryed and placed again. Be careful and patient.Take a photograph or note somewhere, so you can trace back your steps.The drive motor on the side (behind the waste ink pads) has to be removed to get to the main sponge. You also need to take care as you lift the slide/carriage.
Carefully replace the holder and the pads and close printer.Whilst printer is disconnected from the mains power, press and hold the power button and reconnect to ac power,release the power button,press the power button again.Your done

Not even close! The pads on the right are filters for the cleaning assembly, the ink absorbers are multiple pads under the print engine covering the bottom of the printer. Holding the buttons and powering up will not reset anything, the counter is reset in the service mode only available to a Canon service rep. like me. Good luck is right with this kind of stupid help!
