My camera has the zoom lense out. I replaced the batteries, but it beeps twice and nothing happens. There shutter lense does not retract back into the camera, no does it show any previews. its just beeps and thats the end of the story.

I have the same problem. So, I tried the solution. I managed to get the lens to come out, and the camera worked fine to take a picture. Then I pressed power to turn it off, and it got stuck while retracting. Now I have the same problem again. I think I got some sand in it at the beach. Is there a way I can take the lens out and clean any sand off? I tried compressed air, but it doesn't do the job.

I have the same problem of it giving three beep then turning off also the lens is stuck out. I tried the solution posted here and it did not work.

  • woolyhead Jun 28, 2008

Yup, same problem... only the lens is stuck just a little way out, so I can't get enough of a grip on it to pull. Pushing it in doesn't help either.

camera turning on then turning makes a beeping sound whilst turning on to off. No picture displayed at all even with new batteries

  • rw-abz Jul 29, 2008

exactly the same as Blue1878,s problem

  • jokerville2 Aug 16, 2008

same exact issue - probably a defect in the camera . I am thinking of returning it since it is within the 30 days and I never dropped it or had any other reason to cause this to happen . I do change the batteries and then it powers on but that is a hassle and should not be happening .

My camera powered on then off so i took it apart, I found the cogs that move the lens in and out were not meshing together so I manually moved the lens all the way out, then I put the pins that were holding the cogs into allignment with each other and It worked.

I have the same problem Having forced the lens out, it retracts when I power off and back to square one. My solution is to force the lens out (was horrible grating sound) and then power off by opening the battery door. The lens stays out when you power on again and it still takes good pictures. Not ideal but better than a new camera.

Who ever previously posted this answer is THE MAN....
All I did was gently pull on my lens and reinstalled new batteries (Just in Case).
Then I powered on the camera and eveything worked Fine. Not sure what caused it to happen in the first place but very greatfull everything is working again.
Great Site for help.......Thanks

Lens mechanism can be stuck. Try gently to drag or straighten it.

Samsung Digimax S800 has lens stuck in open position. Replaced with fresh alkaline batteries, pressed on button, screen lit up for a second or so, turned off and gave 3 beeps. Any ideas? Thanks, Kevin

Did you accidentally drop it? If you did then there is a big chance that the lens is busted. If you didn't drop it, then it could be just dust/dirt inside the lens mechanism. Hold your camera with the lens facing the ground and then repeatedly tap it your camera gently - moderately to remove the dirt. You can also try spraying compressed air into it.

My s800 camera wont turn on or it does but the zoom/lens is stuck and wont come out-it then has 3 beeps and turns off

Lens errors are fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended ... Unfortunately, many cameras that fall prey to this can only be corrected by professional repair. But, here are some things that you can do that may correct it. They only seem to work for less than 40% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty, they're worth a try.

Digimax S800 Samsung : Lens won't retract

check first if battery is ok, maybe your problem is your barrel, if barrel not function properly you need to change motor or barrel allignment. if barrel is ok you have short circuit in your assy pcb main.

Samsung digimax s800 not swiching on

The problem is that the lens is jammed. I had to take my camera apart to unjam mine manually, the cogs that move the lens are not lined up with each other, thats why you hear the motor turning and then you get the 3 beeps because the lens hasnt initialised

My samsung digimax s800 won't turn on,the batterys are ok

the lens mechanism is not initialising, the cogs that move the lens are out of alignment slightly. you colud try and fix this yourself by taking the camera apart and realigning it manually, or sometimes you can get hold of the prodtruding lens and gently pull, be carefull !! you might hear a grinding noise as you pull this is just the main lens cog turning. once fully out put batterys back in and give it a go

Samsung S800

If the camera fell on it's lens it is probably jammed. Try to find something small, strong and thin, possibly a hairpin and slide it into the barrel while gently trying to force it outwards immediately after switching it on. When it does extend, try to clean or blow out any grit that may be inside the mechanism. The batteries are hot as your camera does not switch off and may be remain on for hours
