Have same 'reinsert cassette' problem with my TRV285E. Effects all tapes except original sony tape that came with camera. It looks like a common product fault with this series of camera.

These error code means that there is a problem with the take up reel. The tape up reel is responsible for "taking up the tape slack" as the tape is running. Try resetting the camcorder. This is done by removing the battery or ac power, wait 10 seconds, reapply the battery or ac power and try again. however..seems this usually happens when the tape has run out of time whilst recording, you have changed the tape....and your re-inserting the tape again for transfer trying to rewind it correct?.....either way, pull the battery off, have the power chord ready plugged in as the only power source, close the tape door...and just as it loads pull the power chord out as you just hear it try to wind up....then wait a few seconds, (your on switch is in VTR or VCR mode......quickly put the power chord back into the camera and repeatedly overide the commands by hitting the << REW button or FFW>> the camera should have bypassed the error alert and start winding the tape....just let it wind the tape for about 20 seconds...hit stop....press PLAY > you should have normal function again. and go to where you wanted the tape to be.

I was having the exact same problem with my sony handycam. I actually came across this website looking for the answer and noticed many people having the same problem but there was no solution to it.

I just happened to go to the sony website and decided to watch the tutorial on setting the camera back to the factory settings. It actually fixed the problem! I don't know if this will work for everyone or even how long it will work, but I figured it was worth a try. Good luck!

I constantly get this message-"re-insert

No. The timing cam is misaligned. The carriage is suppose to accept the tape, and when you close the door, it pulls the tape from the carriage towards the head and drive the take-up reel to the supply reel as the head reads or plays back the tape. If the timing cam is misaligned, it will not accept the tape and thus you get the error message.

My sony handycam digital 8 285E is showing problem C : 31: 22

Well I have not had this happen in my own Sony 340 8 camera, but I have head of it lots of times.
Make sure your tape is re-wound to start, check that the safe tab on rear of take is not pulled over the hole (it prevents writing over stuff you want to keep.

Sony DCR-TRV460 not playing back, blue screen

Follow this procedure to troubleshoot if a blue screen is displayed when attempting to playback video from the camcorder.
  1. Stop the tape.
  2. Ensure the tape has been rewound to the beginning of the video recording.
  3. Play the tape.
  4. If the issue is not resolved, stop the tape and remove it from the camcorder.
  5. Clean the video heads of the camcorder using a dry head cleaning cassette.IMPORTANT: Follow the instructions for use provided with the head cleaning cassette. It may be necessary to use the head cleaning cassette more than once per session.
  6. Reinsert the tape into the camcorder.
  7. Play the tape.
  8. If the issue is not resolved, stop the tape and remove it from the camcorder.
  9. Insert a different tape with video footage into the camcorder.
  10. Ensure the tape has been rewound to the beginning of the video recording.
  11. Play the tape.
NOTES:
  • If a blue screen is still displayed, then the camcorder may require service .
  • If the tape plays back correctly, then the first tape may be faulty or there is a problem with the video recording.

I get an eject symbol and beep and error code c32:11, original issue was that it ate a tape

Hi,
The error C 32:11 denotes for mechanical unsuitability, This problem appears when the improper insertion of the cassette been done, or lose cassette tape stuck,
In all these situations mechanical adjustment is required, You are suggested to please contact any expert for the mechanical adjustment.
Hope you will understand my sayings.
Thanks for using fixya.

Sony Handycam DCR-TRV330 Digital-8 won't calibrate tapes to be able to view

hi there. i just actually had this problem right now. and heres how i fixed it :) it had the error so i took out the tape left it ejected for about 5 seconds. then put the tape back. it read for a little then errored again so it was close. next what i did is plugged the camera in (last time this error happened i plugged in the power and it fixed it) still no fix so i took off the battery waited 5 seconds then put it back on. after that i ejected the tape again and re put it in and it worked! you could try anyone of those things. and usually they work for me. maybe it has something to do with the cameras being old.

Reinsert cassette

Turn the unit off and hit the back of the camera twice near the battery compartment with the palm of your hand. Sounds crazy but it worked with my camcorder Sony DCR-TRV480. Problem started when I used 8MM Head Cleaner. I think the roller got stuck inside camcorder. The trouble code came up C:31:22. Hope this helps.
