How to fix the washing machine if it does not start washing?

If it is top load, I will assume it fills with water, then does nothing!
if that is the case the top closed switch could be faulty. Unless the top is closed it will not run. So a faulty switch would appear to have the cover open when it is actually closed.
if you are a little mechanical , remove power then find switch, the wires to switch can be shorted together. Reassemble ( make sure machine is off, then apply power, turn knob to wash, after filling if machine goes into wash mode you have the problem. Order new switch and replace.

Washing Machine Won't Turn On, Power going to Front panel switch

You probably need to have the programmer checked over, this is the part that you use to select the wash program, they tend to be among the parts most likely to fail

AWO/D4405 whirlpool washing machine has power to machine but nothing lights up or works ?

all washers have a switch without them the washer would cease to operate. Check power source (outlet at the wall. ) use bed light lamp to test. if thats ok you may have a a faulty switch or an internal safety fuse blown

Frigidaire affnity no power washer does nothing

see this causes and fix it. God bless you
see the diagram attached and troubleshooting.
1. No power to the washer
Make sure there's power getting to the washer. Check for a tripped circuit breaker or a blown fuse. Check the wall socket for power. Sometimes the power cord disconnects at the washer, if this is the case, the wiring must be repaired or replaced.

2. Lid switch
The washing machine may not function if the lid switch is defective. The switch is usually located near the door. Replace if found defective.

Start your wash machine

If your washer doesn't seem to work at all, check these: No power Check to see whether power is getting to the washing machine. Is it plugged in? Has a fuse blown or is a circuit breaker tripped? Lid switch If the lid switch is defective, your washer can't spin and may not function at all. The switch is inside the washing machine main housing near the door frame. Often you have to raise or open the top or front of the washer to get to the switch. If it's defective, you need to replace it. Some machines have a special lid-switch fuse near the lid switch, inside the control panel. If this fuse blows, the unit won't fill with water until you replace the fuse.

Washer will not turn on. The knob moves but nothing happens when I turn it on. I've checked the breaker, the water, the plug/outlet, and hoses. Everything looks fine. But nothing happens.

Kenmore top loading washing machine

check the outlet to make sure that power is getting to the unit. This can easily be done by plugging in a lamp or some small appliance. If you have power at the outlet, it is most likely the lid switch.
The switch is inside the washing machine main housing near the door frame. Some machines have a special lid-switch fuse near the lid switch, inside the control panel. Unless you are familiar with working inside the housing I would call a technician.
