Check whether the audio driver is installed or not by going to control panel >system >device manager>audio devices...
if it is not installed then you must download from net or you upgrade to service pack 2 most of all drivers are there in sp2 as it has got very good driver database...

i would have given you the link to download the drivers but you didnt mention which sound board you are using ....
no problem you just do as i say
1.goto google and give the keyword as
" your motherboard or sound board name followed by audio drivers for windows xp for download" to search
2. then u will get the links just go in to that and download it..
if the same problem persists after installing the drivers also then there might be problem in speakers may be there is loose contact or may the speakers are not connected to the audio jack in cpu or the speaker is not powered on or the capacitor inside the speaker is gone...

please rate the solution.....

What is solution speaker not working acer 5610

Solution is to download the AUDIO drivers, AND install them.

Don't know what Operating System you are using. This is required.

http://support.acer.com/us/en/product/default.aspx?tab=1&modelId=535

Three audio (Sound) drivers listed. Which one do you need?
Let's look. Click on each one, one at a time, and see what each one is for...................

First one -> Audio Driver - Realtek - 5.10.0.5273 - 24.2MB

After you click on it;
It states -> Audio_RealTek_5.10.0.5273_XPx86.zip

XP tells you it's for Windows XP
x86 tells you it is for a 32-bit operating system.
So it is for Windows XP 32-bit

Second one -> Audio Driver - Realtek - 6.0.1.5334 - 30.7MB

After you click on it;
It states -> Audio_Realtek_6.0.1.5334_Vistax86.zip

Vista tells you it is for Windows Vista
x86 tells you it is for a 32-bit operating system.
It is for Windows Vista 32-bit.

Third one -> Realtek - 5.10.0.5273 - 24.3MB

After you click on it;
It states -> Audio_RealTek_5.10.0.5273_MCE.zip

MCE = Media Center Edition
It is for Windows Media Center Edition, and that is a 32-bit O/S.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Media_Center

Now.................using the above information, it should be easy for you to determine what Audio Driver that is listed, is the one you need.

I'm going to use Windows XP for an example;

1) Make SURE there is a Green dot in the small circle, to the left of Save File.
If not; left-click in the small empty circle, to the left of - Save File.
Now go below, and click on OK.

2) A small download window will come up.
Allow the file to FULLY download, then DOUBLE-click right on the file name.

3) Another larger small window will come up. Go to the Left side, and click on - Extract all files.

4) At the bottom of the next 3 small windows, click on -
Next, Next, and Finish.
(DON'T change anything. Windows knows where to put it.
Just click on Next, Next, and Finish)

5) In the last small window DOUBLE-click on the file name.

If a Microsoft 'Squawk Box' comes up ignore it. Click on Yes, or OK.
If another small box comes up click on - Run.

[It is a ZIP file. A Zip file is a compressed file. It is used to send large amounts of information more easily. (Compressed)
You need to un-compress it, or 'un-zip' it.
This is what you are doing ]

When you are finished, if it doesn't ask you to restart your computer, DO SO.
(Windows XP: Click on Start > Turn Off Computer > Restart)

Close all windows, go back to your desktop screen, and restart your computer.

Also;
If the Volume icon is no longer down in the system tray;

Windows XP example;
Click on Start > Control Panel.
Click on Sounds, Speech, and Audio Devices
Click on Sounds and Audio Devices (Bottom right)

In the small window, and under the small blue subheading -
Device volume.............
Make sure there is a Green checkmark in the small square box -
Place volume icon in the taskbar.

If not; left-click on the small empty square to the left of -
Place volume icon in the taskbar.

Now go to the bottom right, and click on - Apply.
Then go to the bottom left, and click on - OK

For additional questions please post in a Comment.

joecoolvette
