Question about Maytag Atlantis MAV9750A Top Load Washer

1 Answer

Maytag Atlantis washing machine

Actually the model # is MAV9600, approx. 6 years old; machine does not cycle from wash to drain to rinse to drain to spin automatically - I have to stop it and turn the dial to the point where this would happen (sort of like manually setting the stops and starts!)  Would this be a problem with the timer?

my mav7200 will go to wash to drain but will not rinse.

I have tried to let the machine do its own thing by waiting it out

    but it won't do anything.

Yes there is a small motor just like in most wall clocks the gears strip or the gear bushing slips and refuses to advance the dial.
you have to replace the whole timer unless you know MacGyver microsurgery

The mechanical timer has a very small motor attached to it. In most cases it is this small motor which is 'shot'. It could save you a pile if you just check this out and replace it. Easily available at spares, thru the net

Shreiking spin in rinse cycle

Your pump is probably what's causing the noise . Usually the bearing starting to go out , causing the pump to freeze up , begins with this noise .

Matayg Atlantis Washing Machine gets stuck in the Rinse Cycle and will continue to rinse for hours.

This is the sign of a bad timer. It is not sensing how long it has been in the cycle. The timer is not advancing. Replace the timer.

Belt squeek during rinse cycle

Mine the same concern, I took it apart and found the thermo fuse in the motor had a bad terminal. Maytag parts man said you must get a new motor even though the fuse has a part # on it and is easy to change. I made temporary repairs until I find a fuse from a used parts machine. Scott

Maytag atlantis washer

Start by checking the belt by tilting the machine back and examining for wear, glazing and cracks, next pull the belt to make sure everything turns. Post back if this looks fine.
