Question about Televison & Video
Check spindle motor, does it make a whiring sound? If so, it may not be spooling up the DVD in time due to slipping of the magnets that clamp down on the DVD. Open the unit and see if you can flake any magnetic particles off the center spindle of the spool motor. If you can, you need to get as much of the flakes off as possible and then put a 50/50 thinned mix of rubber cement and thinner onto the magnet surface to give it a little traction, let dry completely (24 hours) and then reassemble. I have done this on one and it worked perfectly since then. If there is still no DVD found, then the laser is probably out of alignment and you should look into replacing as the repair cost is not economically sound.
