My washer wont go through the spin cycle

My kenmore washer will do everything except go through the spin cycle. It makes a loud noise like its supposed to be doing something, but nothing happens. My brother looked at it & said there's no belt in it. Iss this an easy & inexspensive fix or should I buy a new washer?

My Kenmore washer will not go into the spin cycle. it does do
every thing else. It does agitate fine. But like this
morning, I went in there, it had not spun and it flooded the
floor. Should I junk it and get a new one or is this something
easily fixable? I have checked all the hoses when I saw the water
all over the floor, and none of the hoses are loose.

It's not exactly the same model but I'm pretty sure it's the same type made by another manufactuer. Every thing works but the spin cycle, I had it apart to because it wasn't draining and pulled something out of the water pump that had it clogged up. It is a direct drive system and will go through a full cycle on the dial. The clothes are sopping wet and when I set the washer on spin directly I cand hear a repeated clicking sound. I can see the shaft output from the motor spinning at this point. Is there anything that I can check before i purchase parts or get a repairman?

my washer does not spin leaves clothing wet. I checked for a belt there is none

yes it agitates fine and all the water drains out, i can also spin the tub by hand. the only thing missing from the equation is the spin dry cylcle. when I had it apart i really didn't understand how a washer worked so i took more apart than i really needed to. The water pump is on the back side of the motor and that's as far as i needed to go. when i took the motor off of the bottom assembly of the tub maybe I screwed up the tub (clutch)?), i didn't pull it apart but it seemed as if it dropped down a half an inch farther than it was before. I had to push the motor in hard in order to put the three bolts holding it on back together.

I poked at the sensor (sensor that is is the safety lid switch) which is on the right hand side of the top of the machine. The water pumped out and it went into spin cycle. When I released the switch or lever to activate the sensor, the cycle stopped. I then proceeded to unscrew the sensor switch. I carefully I pushed the sensor pad up (It was stuck). Screwed the switch back in place and ...Wha la! She is running like a top. This sight is very helpful. I love not having to pay anyone to fix my problems! Kudos!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you!

I took the lower front cover off of my washer.  There is a pump that pumps out the water.  The hose from the drum (the thing that holds the clothes and the water) has a square thing that I guess works like a pea trap.
I removed all the items on the pea trap.  Removed the hose.  Removed the drain hose and looked at the motor.  there was something stuck, a piece of bra pad, in the motor splines.  I put everything back and the washer workde just fine.
Hope this helps someone.

He is right there is no belt in that unit only the older models had a belt they are direct drive now It sounds like you have a basket drive problem but before I tell you thast for sure i need some answers to these questions Does it Agitate ok?? does it pump out all the water. Most likely it's a motor coupling. (Between motor and transmission - brakes when you overload it.)

Washer makes very loud noise during the spin cycle.

Sounds like you have bad bearings. If you use powder soap thats the problem. Powder soap doesnt dissolve all the way and gets into the bearings and eats them away. you will most likely have to have a service technician come out to replace them(Its not just bearings they sell you more than you need and you have to take everything apart... big job). After that use liquid soap.

Loud Noise - Spin Cycle

If the washer is making a squealing noise, the problem is more likely to be the basket drive. If it is more like a rattling sound, the centerpost bearings are probably worn out. Open machine's rear panel and spin the basket manually by turning the drive pulley, to find out from where exactly the noise come from. Defective part should be replaced. Good luck !!
