Question about HP PSC 2175 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Scanner failure I am receiving a "scanner failure" after replacing a new black cartridge. I am getting a clicking sound from inside the machine for approximately 90 seconds before it stops ... "copy", "scan" and "photo card" lights flash simultaneously. I have tries rebooting the printer but to no avail. Please help. Jim Marden yimmylee@comcast.net

    After a power outage in our home, the hp psc 2175 came one and immediately starting making a rapid clicking noise. After about 90 seconds of this, it stopped and gave an error message on the all-in-one display screen that says, "scanner failure turn power off and on again". We did that, we also unplugged it from the surge protector and the computer, we restarted the computer, and we unplugged it and held in the right arrow key and the cancel button as we plugged it back in. Nothing has worked. We also removed the ink cartridges and unplugged and replugged the power cord in 3 times waiting 30 seconds in between. We also removed the usb cable.

Hi,

I understand that you are receiving Scanner failure error.

Please follow the below given instructions to get the issue resolved.


Please remove the All-in-One Printer from the Power Surge Protector and plug it directly into a wall Power outlet, as the surge protector may not provide enough power to printer.

Let us power cycle your All-in-one to remove any static electricity in your All-in-one.

Please perform the step given below to power cycle the unit after removing the print cartridges from the printer:

1. Verify that the unit is switched on. Unplug the all-in-one from power and disconnect the USB cable from the computer.
2. Wait 30 seconds.
3. Plug in the power only
4. Repeat steps 2-3 two more times.
5. On the third time after plugging the unit into power, reconnect the USB cable from the all-in-one to your computer.

If the issue persists, try resetting the All-in-one to factory defaults by following the below given instructions:

Note:
A semi-full reset will do the following:
The user settings to the factory defaults, Language and country settings on some models, Fax logs, Fax headers, Fax speed dial information.

Reset the All-in-One to the factory default settings by using these instructions:

1. Unplug the power cable from printer when the printer is powered on.

2. Press and hold Cancel and the Right Arrow while plugging in the power cord.

Continue holding until it displays S Full Reset message in the front panel of the All-in-One.
This should resolve the issue.

    I cannot do semi-full reset. The display shows "Button is stuck, release button" but not the "S Full Reset". How I can do a reset?

HP 4015x and I get an insert black cartridge error. Not sure what I should be replacing on it or what to check on the printer.

This error is most common when your toner cartridge has reached it's end of life. Sometimes it will alternate with "This cartridge has reached a low threshold error" which indicates you can keep printing but need to order a new toner cartridge. See page 155 of your support manual for more on this error.

If you have installed a new toner cartridge and receive "Remove Shipping Lock Error" that means you have not removed the protective strip on page 118 step #5.

Started with out of colour ink - changed coluor ink cartridge. then came up with out of black ink - so changed the black ink cartridge now sais scanner failure when run through procedure to align...


"Scanner failure" basically means buy a new machine. Once the scanner fails on an all-in-one it will refuse to do anything. Replacing or fixing the scanner will cost much more than buying a new machine.

Received an error code 50c on my Dell printer


Regarding the Dell A940 "Error 50c"....the user guide doesn't seem to mention "Error 50c". They do, however, mention a "Cartridge Error" on page 52 of the manual. They claim this means that the printer has detected a short circuit (fuse/resister) in the cartridge. As you may or may not have noticed in the manual, this is what they recommend doing about it:

1) Press Power to turn the printer off.

2) Lift the printer cover/lid (scanner unit) until the scanner support holds it open.

3) Turn the printer on.
The ink cartridge carrier moves and stops at the loading position unless the printer is busy.

4) Remove the color ink cartridge.

5) Lower the printer (scanner unit) until it is completely closed.
If the error message displays again, replace the black cartridge with a new black cartridge.

If the error message does not display, repeat steps 1–3 and then go to step 6.

6) Reinstall the color cartridge and remove the black ink cartridge.

7) Lower the printer (scanner unit) until it is completely closed.

If the error message displays again, replace the color cartridge with a new
color cartridge.
If there is no error message (indicated by flashing lights), repeat steps 1–3 and then reinstall both ink cartridges.
8) Lower the printer (scanner unit) until it is completely closed.

If you get the error message again, while both cartridges are installed, replace both of the cartridges.

Basically, what they want you to determine is,....if the short circuit is with the "black ink" cartridge or the "color ink" cartridge and then replace the cartridge that has the problem.

Machine won't print


Scanner failure means that the scanner bulb is no longer working. There are a few things that can sometimes bring it back but it may be a permanent issue.
1) Make sure printer is directly into the wall and not a surge protector or power strip
2) Remove cartridges from printer
3) Unplug power from back of printer and wait 30 seconds
4) While printer is unplugged press the # and 6 keys and plug power cord in. Keep holding # and 6 until the printer has either powered off or it says semi-full reset
5) Go through initialization process - if it works great the issue with firmware is fixed. If not then the scanner bulb isn't functioning and you are looking at replacing the unit.

Reinstalling ink


I put a new magenta cartridge in the printer. It says to open the scanner cover, then reinstall ink cartridge. when i open the scanner cover nothing happens and i dont know how to install the ink.

  3. Uninstall and then reinstall your cartridges.If this does not resolve the issue then try the next steps.

MR REPLY, BELIVE IT OR NOT. I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM .I DID THE UNTHINKABLE ,I REMOVED PRINT HEAD AND INK CATRIGAES.TOOK THE ENTIRE PRINTER IN A BATH TUB, POURED DISH WASHING SOAP ALOVER IN AND OUT, AND I WASHED IT, LIKE YOU WASH THE BABY IT COMPLETLY COVERED WITH WATER FOR 20 MIN . I THEN TOOK IT, IN THE PADIO AND DRIED 1 HOURS IN DIRECT SUNLIGHT AND IT WORKS LIKE A PRO.
