I have a 2005 GE side by side refrigerator with a water/ice dispensor. The ice dispensor will not iject ice into a cup although alot of ice is produced. Any suggestions on how to get it working besides replacing the ice maker unit. The auger seems to be locked up and does not rotate. Thanks Tony
Try and remove the ice bin.the watch the auger motor while the door is open and the switch help close while some one is tryind to dispence ice.if the auger turns the check and see if the u shaped braket is stripped you can tell this by grabbing it and turning back and forth it should only move one way.if it does not turn then the auger motor does need to be replace.make sure to check the wiring as well.if the motor turn check th is bin and make sure there is no ice jammed in the teeth of the auger this wolud stopp it from turning.i hope this was some help to you good luck. would like to here how things go for you.

Yes , replace the main board . Part number WR55X10656 . There is only partial communication between the main board and the dispensor board . This main board , is behind the 8 " X 10 " panel , on the back of the refrig . Do not replace the dispensor board . I have never come across a bad dispensor board yet . Always a first time though .
Most likely reason water not dispensing out door
1) You can turn up the temp in the freezer to see if it thaws in a couple of days,
2) Turn on the dispenser light and leave it on, will thaw the line and keep it thawed,
3) the water tank is frozen in the fresh food side (you can defrost with a blow drier)
6) the fill valve went bad or plugged ( power to fill valve but not opening) ($50)
7) Micro switch went bad in the dispenser for the water side
8) Door switch bad
9) Install a heater kit to thaw the line and it will keep it thawed ($35) PN#1381601
10) You can replace the whole door if insulation gone bad in door ( $500 to $800)
11) a broken wire to the fill valve ( no power to fill valve )
12) with GE refrigerator bad dispenser boards or control boards ($400 and $150)
13) plugged, faulty or incorrectly installed water filter
let me know more about you problem and I can help..
If the dispensor light switches to cubed or crushed , the panel is good . Remove the ice bin , and hold the light switch in . Press the arm for CRUSHED ice , and if you hear a buzzing or hum , then the auger motor is frozen . Use a hair dryer directly on the " forks " for a while , ocasionally holding switch and activating arm , until the forks move . Lower the freezer temp slightly and reinstall the ice bin .
This could be as simple as the door switch or as complex as the dispenser control board. I would try the door switch first. When the door is close it turns on the dispenser controls. If the contact is defective in the door/light switch then this happens. Unplug remove the door switch and mark wire locations. 1 Powers the lights and the other powers the dispenser. and one is the power itself. Sea Breeze
