Samsung DLP TV HL-R5667W shuts off intermittently

In 2 years the lamp has been replaced twice for the same issue. however, since the lamp was just replaced again 2 months ago and i am reading that the shutting off problem seems to be common, i wonder if the lamp is the issue at all. the TV indicator lights do not indicate overheating or that the lamp is a problem. anyone have any idea how to fix this problem or what the cause is? the TV shuts down with no warning. sometimes we can immediately turn it back on or sometimes not. the fan seems to be running fine.

- thanks mike! i wrote a whole response and then clicked the rating above and apparently lost the response. here goes again -
ventilation is not the issue. the set is not in a cabinet and has great air flow. the lamp, though replaced twice, is also probably not the problem. something else, like the ballast you pointed out, must be causing the problem. samsung had me reset the tv but that didn't do anything. samsung/best buy are sending out a tech, who is going to take the tv to their shop. this new tech thinks it may be a board that costs $800-900 to replace. luckily we have a 4 year extended warranty or this set would have cost us a bundle while trying to get it fixed. the former tech really had no clue and kept replacing lamps, which is clearly not the issue. Thanks, Mike

-   My Samsung HL-P6163W DLP began shutting off for no reason after placing it in a entertainment center. The TV never gave me any idications that it was overheating. This began to occur every time I turned the TV on and would turn off 8-10 times in 20 minutes. I had the lamp replaced and it did not fix the problem. I removed my TV from the entertainment center and the TV would never shut off. It was obviously a circulation problem with the heat not getting out of the TV. I spent $5.00 on a used 110V computer fan and hot glued the fan to the rear of the vent to the left of the lamp door. I plugged the fan into my cable box to turn on with the box. I have never had a problem since. The TV has never turned off since installing the fan and it is back in my entertainment center. Afraid there is no simple answer to this. This set has multiple things that could shut it down, one may be the balest needs a upgrade , this could be why it seems to be eating lamps. Another is what sounds like a fan is a color wheel , these have known problems of failing, and when this happens sometimes they shut down the set. And finaly does the set have good ventalation, overheating can cause huge problems with this set
