Loosing image on Satalite Pro laptop screen

I have a fairly old Satalite pro laptop which started to loose the image on the screen at certain positions of the screen. Now the image is gone altogether. Is there a way of checking the contacts between the body of the laptop and the screen?

To fix the problem you need to open the laptop an check the display cable. If you want to do it yourself I suggest to look for Toshiba Satellite schematics on the Internet

Laptop display

My first thought was that the graphics card component in the machine had gone wrong, but this would be more likely to go quickly I think, and you can use an external monitor, so the graphics card should be OK.
It therefore looks like either the inverter for the screen or the screen itself has broken down.
Either of these requires fairly specialist repair and my advice would be to find out how much it would cost and consider whether or not it would be more economic to put that money towards a more up-to-date machine, depending how old yours is.

I have a sony vgn-sz430n and the screen has gone nearly black. At certain angles and with certain lighting, the screen shows some images. They include: Vaio Recovery Center (with a totally blank window)...

Ok ! So try one thing remove HDD from the laptop and then start the laptop.And i am sure that u will see that the screen gone black at certain points. So dude its LCD problem . Go to nearest Laptop repairing center and he can change your LCD. then it working properly

It sounds like it's a loose wire. Your best bet would be to take it apart and take a look, that would also give you a good idea if there's something broken in there.

Check your bezel for screws and take them out. Usually they're underneath little cushions, so you'll have to peel them off. Take out the screws, then you should be able to use a screwdriver to pop the bezel off. It's kindof difficult, because the snaplocks are tight. Try to be forceful yet gentle (oxymoron, I know) so you don't break too many of them. They're fairly robust, I don't think I've ever broken one, but you want to be careful anyway. Once you have the bezel off, you should be able to take a look at the wires and cables to see if any are broken, cracked, or loose. You may also need to take off the top cover of the PC to check that as well. Usually this is held in place by screws on the bottom of the laptop, as well as more snaplocks.

Blank computer screen

Look at the LCD screen very closely and check if you can see a faint image on the screen. It's possible that the LCD lid close switch stuck in the "closed" position and the back-light stays off even when you open the LCD screen or turn on the laptop. The switch turns off the back-light when you close the LCD display to save the laptop battery power.

If that didn't fix it then there are 3 things that could have gone wrong:

1. Video cable connection from inverter to LCD got loose. To check this, follow instructions from step 3 on how to open the LCD and check if cable is fitted properly.

2. The video inverter is faulty
The screen inverter failure is very similar to the back-light lamp failure. In both cases the screen gets very dark and the image on the screen becomes very faint, barely visible under a bright light. If it's still under warranty, take it for a replacement. You can replace this otherwise - you can find the inverter under the screen, follow the procedure described at point 3 to open up the screen.

3. The LCD monitor is faulty
If it works on an external monitor most likely the LCD is faulty and needs replacement. If it's still under warranty, take it for a replacement. If not, you can do it yourself, it's pretty easy. Remove the rubber covers on the side of the screen, unscrew the screws take the plastic cover off, disconnect the video inverter and put in the new LCD after you connect the video inverter to it.

Laptop Screen turning off when I move it

What are you are describing is a faulty inverter board on your laptop

The inverter is repsonsible for bumping the voltage up from 12V to much higher to provide brightness on the screen.

When this goes faulty or the cable becomes loose, then everything becomes very dim

I would recommned that this be booked into a reputable PC repair shop to investigate further

Toshiba L300 screen flickers and backlight

Maybe is the backlight power cable cut. Try with the laptop in power on mode oppening VERY SLOWLY the screen to see if at a certain potition it works fine. Open it all the way up sometimes to check it. If thre is a potition that it works, it's the cable as I mentioned.

I disabled the microphone on my toshiba satalite

You can try these steps :

1. Goto Start -> Control Panel.

2. Sounds -> Recording.

3. Open the 'Microphone Properties' from the list of devices.

4. Change the status of 'Device Usage' to "Use this device (Enable)".

5. Apply settings and close the window.

Satalite pro m50, no sound

On my Toshiba laptop. I mute the sound by pressing Fn + Esc. If I press Fn + Esc again, the sound is restored.
