Question about RCA WHP141 Consumer Headphones

How do you mute tv but not headphones?

When I hook up wireless headphones to the tv, I cannot mute the tv without
muting the phones. This totally negates the idea of the headphones! I have
heard that there was a way to do this, but can't find the info now.

Look in your TV's menu options. I have an RCA TV which allows me to turn on (or off) the headphone port and set the volume of the headphones. Once you turn the headphone volume up, then you can turn the TV Volume all the way down with your TV remote while the headphone volume remains where you set it. Hope this works for you.

On your old TV, the headphones connected to the internal speaker output so muting the TV also muted the headphone output. Your new TV headphone circuit connects elsewhere to provide constant output regardless of mute selection.

Pioneer VSX-456 headphone jack problem

No the headphone jack doesn't disable the speakers. There are two switches in the lower middle of the receiver that are labeled speaker A and B. Pushing one of these should disconnect the speakers from the receiver.

HW701 wireless headphones

Yup. If the headphones are driven by the TV, then turning down the TV turns down the headphones. Check to see if the TV has an audio output setting where you can select either the TV speakers or the headphone jack. What brand and model TV is it?

HOOKED ALL MY SPEAKERS UP BUT SUB AND CANT GET ANY SOUND FROM FM OR TV THAT I HAVE HOOKED UP AM I MISSING SOMETHING ALSO THERE IS A LIGHT THAT SAYS SOUND MUTE BY FM

From the remote control ONLY:

Press MUTING to mute the sound through all

speakers and headphones connected.

"MUTING" appears on the display and the

volume turns off (the volume level indicator goes

off).

To restore the sound, press MUTING again so that "OFF" appears

on the display.

• Turning MASTER VOLUME on the front panel or pressing
VOLUME +/- on the remote control also restores the sound.

About cordless headphones, can't mute tv and still hear with head phones why

If you have them connected to an ear phone jack, that's why! If you have the wireless head set connected to the Audio Out jack in the rear of the set then all you do is turn the volume down. On a lot of models the mute circuitry is before any inputs therefor when mute is activated, all audio is muted. So try and just lowering the volume to 0, that will not effect the jacks in the rear.

Adding remote control activated ''mute'' to TV headphone jack

Generally when the head phone jack is inserted the speakers will get disconnected automatically.

If you are going to use external amplifier you can try the AV sockets. Opening the TV you may require the special screw drivers some times.

As an idea, I was thinking as I read your post, I thought that this would be an ideal application for a pair of "Wireless/Ired Headphones", you could plug these into the headphone socket, and then use these to hear your sounds, these units have a mute on board.
You could indeed wire it into, the unit going in through, the back of the, set. You could wire it up, but in reality, it would be better to use a third party device and that way would not compromise any warranty.

I went to the local electronics store and bought one 2xRCA sockets-3.5mm stereo socket splitter and 2 RCA joiner/couplers and plugged that into the monitor audio plugs at the back of the TV. Works great for a total of $12.00.
