The frequency band that Nokia 6260 operates in is different than the frequency of operation of wind mobile and fido. So, the phone that operated in UK might not work in Canada.

i came across this problem the other day and i put a different sim in and it worked again, for some reason the phone did not like the other sim card, so try a different sim

If you try to insert a different network SIM card other than the one it is supported, you need to unlock it. If your mobile from a specific network provider you need to unlock it to use a different network. Because of this only the simcard you are inserting is not supported. If the sim is faulty, then it can cause this problem.

If the phone does the same with different SIM cards, then check the sim contacts in the phone slot, if you cannot find anything wrong, then it is an internal problem, probablu with the circuits connecting to sim card slot on the phone.
