I've got a Heritage 52" ceiling fan w/remote, model # 5buw52nk27q or 5buw52wz2yq. I've had this fan for almost 2 years, no problems. Now light won't work, either with pull chain or remote control. The fan works but only with pull chain, not with remote control. Please advise.

My ceiling fan loses remote control every time there is a power outage. The first thing to do is turn off power to the fan at the circuit breaker. Take the battery out of the remote and push all the buttons to eliminate a stuck button as a possible cause. Reinstall the battery. Turn on power to the fan. Check operation. You may have to pull a chain to "reeducate" the remote but you should be back up and running soon.
This fan has a unique dc motor and a proprietary controller. DO NOT USE A STANDARD CONTROLLER OR SWITCH. The controller is very rare and is no longer made or supported. The company was purchased by Casablanca Fans, but they offer no help.
You can include a push chain switch, if theres enough room in the ceiling fan housing. This is a job for a professional electrician or appliance serviceman who is willing to modify an appliance. It will need to be tested for intrinsic safety and the work should carry some sort of warranty since the pull chain modification (if made on the ceiling fan house) will likely void any warranty. Instead, I advise that the pull switch could be intalled elsewhere in the room. However, it still remains a job for a profession electrician who can install the pull switch in parallel with the existing switch.
This would however be able to control all three fans with just one pull switch if you wanted.
I have the same model - we just opened up the box and the glass was broken. The number 1-888-561-1873 was given to call and get a new glass, but the number has been disconnected. I can't find a new number to call to get a new glass for the fan.
